Hey, I say why not, we have a Martin Luther King Day. An Arizona legislator raised eyebrows this week with a suggestion that the state should name a holiday for Caucasians. State Rep. Cecil Ash’s remarks began in jest while he was speaking on the Arizona House floor Monday, but asked to clarify them later, Ash doubled down and said he thought such a holiday was a good idea. It started when state Rep. Richard Miranda, a Democrat, said Arizona should have a day to celebrate Latino Americans, Phoenix CBS affiliate KPHO-TV reported. According to the station, Miranda’s suggestion touched off a tense debate, and that’s when Ash stepped in to try to relieve the tension with a moment of levity. “I’m supportive of this proposition… I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you’ll have a day for us,” Ash, a Republican, said.
His words achieved their desired effect and got a few laughs. But after his comments got out, he told KPHO he stood by them. “I think that if and when the Caucasian population becomes a minority, they may want to celebrate the accomplishments and the contributions of the Caucasian population the same way,” Ash said. He told the station he thinks the state should acknowledge the accomplishments of great people, regardless of their ethnicity. KPHO spoke with a few Arizonans to get their thoughts about Ash’s proposal: Reaction was mixed, with one person calling it a “crazy idea” but another saying it was a “good idea — Like they have Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans. We need something for whites.”

In Texas, Confederate Heros Day is a state holiday. Columbus Day is a paid holiday for many back east. I view those as white people holidays.

Columbus Day Nice try there, Bruce. This U.S. holiday honors the man who discovered America for many people on the other side of the world, and not really a race.

If an Arizona legislator raised eyebrows suggesting a holiday for white people, that tells me right there just how chicken shit the rest of his colleges are, trying to keep their 'politically correct' BS practice alive, IMO!
If this suggestion had been raised in the U.S. Congress, I can just imagine the massive inrush into the area's hospitals from congressional members face-planting themselves to the floor!

Amerigo Vespucci discovered America, thus we arent named Colombia. Anyway, if something like this passes, I dont want to be on this planet anymore.

Amerigo Vespucci discovered America, thus we arent named Colombia. Not quite, per wikipedia:
At the invitation of king Manuel I of Portugal, Vespucci participated as observer in several voyages that explored the east coast of South America between 1499 and 1502. On the first of these voyages he was aboard the ship that discovered that South America extended much further south than previously thought. The expeditions became widely known in Europe after two accounts attributed to Vespucci were published between 1502 and 1504. In 1507, Martin Waldseemüller produced a world map on which he named the new continent America after Vespucci's first name, Amerigo.
He may have discovered MORE of the new world but Columbus' journey took place seven years earlier.

Nice try there, Bruce. This U.S. holiday honors the man who discovered America for many people on the other side of the world, and not really a race. And MLK Day honors the man who led the movement that established equal rights for everyone in America, not just African Americans.
And for all the white men here are who are feeling oppressed, let's just put this in context. Blacks were enslaved in America from 1619 to 1865. They were lynched, legally segregated and subject to legal discrimination for another 100 years until 1965.
So now, 38 years after three and a half centuries of legal oppression of blacks ended, some cranky old dude in AZ is whining that the tables have turned on whites, and whites need their own day to feel special. Pretty funny.

Did you know there's also a Congressional White Caucus? It's known as the US Senate.

After WWII, most people in Western Europe were grateful for the U.S. Troops that fought and died to free them. I'm sure most in Iraq are not too happy.......but,
Hey, Straddle, how many Conservative Lincoln Republicans in your area fought for the freedom of Slaves during the Civil War? How many died? How many Al Gore Sr. and Byrd types kept the fight going?
When was the last time you were thanked for the sacrifices of your forebears? AND not blamed for the actions of those you oppose?

This seems to escape most blacks and the left. Well, I wasn't talking Republicans, Democrats, left or right. I was talking about whining old white men who think that since we have one federal holiday that honors a black man, we need a special "White People Day" to make the world fair again. Seems downright silly to me.
Sorry if it hit a little close to home, fellas.

You will see that Washington's Birthday is also a Federal Holiday. I'm sure Lincoln's Birthday is also considered a Federal Holiday as well, but it falls on a weekend this year, so it wasn't listed on this.
Lincoln's birthday-Feb. 12 (lands on a Sunday this year)
Washington's birthday-Feb. 22 (lands on a Wednesday this year)
