Was talking with a fellow co worker a while back, and she had been looking for another job, and had applied for one for which she was qualified for, she had experience and all. And, she got turned down. Why? Seems potential employers are now running credit checks on applicants.

What does a credit score have to do with being able to work? It's not like the applicant is applying for a loan, or revolving credit. They are applying for a job. Back to the co worker, she was told because her debt was too far over her income. Well, duh! That is why she is looking for a job where the pay will be better.

Oh, and here is a good one...McDonald's wants applicants to have diplomas AT THE LEAST around here. I remember McDonald's being the employer of choice for high school students. Students, meaning, they haven't graduated yet. And, people who have job experience in areas like administrative office personnel, but, no degree, get looked over for the fresh graduate with no to little experience because they have a degree.

I can remember being 17, and an uncle of mine calling college, "a waste of time and money when job experience will get you further." World isn't like that anymore. Even the fast food places are starting to want graduates. I can't help but wonder, what kind of jobs are out there for the kids to apply for to get them job experience when, what used to be jobs for students is now wanting applicants to have a diploma.

Oh yeah, I saw a video today from the 80's with these lyrics:

The problem's plain to see
Too much technology
Machines to save our lives
Machines, de-humanize

Look around us today..........a lot of truth in them lyrics today.

Bonus...can you all guess what song that comes from? Without using any search engines?

Probably for the 'stick to idness' that having a degree would indicate! In other words, they're looking for people that start a task, then finish it- an employee they can depend on doing what they were hired to do- IMO anyway!

a lot of truth in them lyrics today.

Okay... you're fired... for using the word: THEM in the above statement! Least you could have done was use: THEM THERE... at least you would have sounded like a countryfied girl!

I agree with Som to an extent and the credit aspect is often a symbol of a person's degree of responsibility. As for Mickey D's, that is ridiculous if I interpret what you convey correctly. But I can't help but think that the policy of requiring a high school diploma or GED may only apply to full time employees.

It's a Styx song for sure; isn't it Mr. Roboto?

What does a credit score have to do with being able to work?
I would think none.
