I've said that before myself. 
As for the wait for approval, I just don't have the patience for it I guess. Yes, I admit it, when I post a comment, I want to see it right away, not wait hours or a day or whatever. 
Yes, I miss the good ole days of anything goes. It was fun, it was wild, and it was a blast. Blog hijackings, and other overall silliness. Guess I'm the optimistic one, keep holding on to the hope that it can get playful again.

Sugar.........you're right in holding out hope.......I also hold the hope but it may not happen with getting the old ppl back in here (by old I mean past members) but maybe whereas the oldies aren't here.......the newbies will come forward to play.

It doesn't really matter to me if they wait to post my comment or don't post it at all .. I'm making it to them anyway so if they read it then all is fine. I'm sure most of them do it so they can keep control of their own blog... which is our responsiblity I'm assuming .. don't see a mod here very often .. unless he's summoned to kick somebody out.

I would love to see some return to blogging, Shawn for one, I used to love his blogs. I cannot remember the full name, but there was one, Ash, I used to like reading her comments on blogs. And of course Borty needs to get back here. Max is back,  .
but maybe whereas the oldies aren't here.......the newbies will come forward to play.
That's what I keep hoping for.

it's true, summernite, that we have to police our own blogs, but that can be done by deleting comments and/or blocking that person from further bs. and yes for the most part I do make comments to the author of the blog, but to get a good commentary going a person could answer other people's comments as further agreement with your own view or to make a reason why in your opinion that their belief is wrong. You will get more comments and therefore get more feedback if you open up your blogs.
As i said it was a persons right to do what they want with their blogs, if a person did nothing but post a blog everyday that said he had blue balls, it is his right. (please no one take this as a suggestion!) I was just saying there are people that would comment if they were approved without waiting. Why would anyone not want more comments on their blogs..........after all its more attention..........and that's really why anyone writes a blog is for attention.

Now you know......if there were some guys out there suffering from blue balls getting ready to blog about it...you just done gone and discouraged them.  
As most know, my blogs are set so that comments are automatically approved. I just delete, block, and report(if necessary) any who are just trying to start fights. Otherwise, I like to keep the lines of communication open.

Chances were that if you posted a blog it wouldn't remain on the front page for more than a couple of hours.
Interestingly enough... that just ended about a couple weeks ago, when a certain 'blogger hogger' would cause other blogs to disappear off of page one way before their time! Some blogs were very good, some useful, some humorous etc. All were gone in a short period of time. That used to be my bitch!
There is a lot of complaints about how boring the blogs are
You can't please all of the people all of the time- only some of the people some of the time, no matter who writes what! That seems to be the fact that some people just can't understand, for some reason!
What does irritate me is "Your comment must wait for approval"
That used to bug me too. Now, it doesn't because I don't... comment in that particular blog that is!
How many here do not comment on blogs that are awaiting approval?
Skip... onward and upward to the next blog! I go from the oldest to the youngest... blog that is! 
What would be a reason why you would keep the default that comments had to wait?
Just to piss people off............. ohhhh wait- that sounds too much like the guy with the cruddy shower stall!.......... NEVER mind!!!
By the way........has anyone noticed that my blogs are a lot shorter than they use to be?
Sounds like a serious computer upgrade is needed- it can't keep up with your touch typing speed! At least upgrade from a TRS-80 to a Apple IIe.
Just my 2ยข worth and then I probably have change coming back!

I explain how to change the settings to the newbies sometimes. Otherwise, I don't comment.
I am almost positive.........that WordsofWit has an awesome blog that could help you with that
I don't know how awesome it is, but anybody interested can just enter "newbies" into the search field on the blog page and "Blogging 101 for Newbies" should show up. The computer I am now using cannot get the URL feature for links to function
