Since we already have a Thanksgiving Day where we can be especially thankful for different things...........I think what we need now is a Penance Day. The Catholics may be on to something...........You go to church......step into this private phone booth (with no phone of course.........but who would you call........you are already suppose to have a direct line to God there) and you tell all your sins to a man who wears his collar on backwards and after a few hail Marys......or whatever.......you are forgiven all of your sins.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could set one day aside each year, not every week because you know we would be going out doing shit just to have something to say we are sorry for............one day a year...........to say we are sorry..........maybe after a few Hail Blogs......... we are forgiven.
As the days are getting close to Penance Day we could start making a list, i.e. I pissed someone off in the blogs and now that I think about it, I was wrong.........Hail Blog, Hail Blog, Hail Blog.............I am forgiven..........I wrote a sexy email to someone my friend is interested in, Hail blog, Hail Blog, Hail Blog, (that's pretty severe that may take a few extra Hail Blogs.) but you get the idea.
Would we need someone to "cleanse" us of these sins, a sorta Blog God...........hmmmm that term does sound a bit familiar..............or perhaps we should leave it up to each person that the "offense" was against. If we did that would the offended person be so forgiving..............why sure after all it would be required...........its Penance Day. Maybe we could get Father Max..........to come back and forgive us......hmmmmmmmm 
Perhaps we could make this universal; I swore at someone for taking my parking spot. Hail........ummmmmmmm well let's see.......we can't really use blogs..........cause not everyone writes in blogs........hell most people don't even read the blogs.......  I know.......right? People don't know what blogs are..........unbelievable..........but that's material for another blog.. we need to find some one thing that is universal for people to use with the Hail...........let's see...........Hail..........Tree? Nah.......people live in cities where trees are far and few between..........they won't need to worry about the Tree offering up forgiveness...........Let's See..........Hail.........House?? Nope...people in apartments and condos will feel slighted............Hail...Storm? Hail Storm? that has a ring to it...........but no not right in this situation.............Hail Yes!!! There we are Hail Yes!! The following would occur:
I have sinned in flipping you the finger.........I am sorry..............am I forgiven Hail Yes!! I am sorry that I came to your Christmas party intoxicated...........am I forgiven Hail Yes!! I kissed your husband (or wife) last Saturday night...........am I forgiven? Hell NO!!! OK so maybe not everything can be forgiven ......just because its Penance Day...........I am sure a lot of thing went without thanks yesterday............
It would be a holiday for everyone............no one is perfect........within a year everyone would have at least one things to apologize for..........so all we need is a date.......oh and to get Congress to pass it...........and since they are the ones who would have the most apologize for..............and the least likely to apologize...........my guess would be that it will never get approved............Oh well it was a great thought in theory............  and probably would have come in handy after Black Friday........after you have gouged some 80 yr old woman in the stomach cause she was ahead of you in line when the doors of Walmart opened up...........just saying

I do so walk on water.....between the months of December and February when it's frozen. 
And I've never really cared for wine....more of a champagne or pina colada kinda gal.

Heh... for me to give Penance successfully, I would have to 'hole' up for a few weeks somewhere, with Meals On Wheels keeping me fed until I finally came to an end of my list of 'sins'- even then, it might be somewhat questionable that I've totally 'come clean' in the eyes of the "man who wears his collar on backwards!"

Hmmm... well if you think about it, "Hail Yes" seems to have some kind of Southern drawl connotation affixed to it- to me anyway! But maybe: Give me 15 'Hail Yes' for your penance in that there confessional booth and y'all come back now... hear!? Could work!
Now in the West, maybe: Give me 15 'Hail Yes' for your penance in that booth over there next to the giant cactus pardner, might be appropriate!
An Eastern version (especially the North East) might go something like: Give me 15 'Hail Yes' for your penance in that confessional booth over there- the one with the cache of hand guns... bada bing, bada boom!
I'm thinking in the far North it might go like: Give me 15 'Ohhhh Hail Yes' for your penance in that confessional booth over yonder... or ELSE!
As far as a direct line to God- well... let's just say... last I heard, I had a huge bill coming my way for God's 'time and effort'! wtf? I mean, WTF???

There are a number of emotions I find useless, jealousy is one of them, shame and guilt are others.
That doesn't mean I don't think I don't do wrong, it just means I prefer to be responsible for my actions. I try to to live life without regret as much as possible.
I am not Catholic, was never raised Catholic, don't even know that many people who admit to being Catholic. So maybe I just don't get the idea of penance. Maybe it is just as well.
If anything we should have another day dedicated to gratitude and thanks giving. I think this is something people should do every day, but twice a year would be better than nothing.
Yeah, I know you aren't being totally serious here, but I seriously think we should appreciate the good that we have, the friendships and the opportunities, and enjoy this journey we call life more, even with all its hardships and setbacks.
