Yep, it's closing in. Where did the time go? Seems like not that long ago it was summer. Next week is Thanksgiving and then Black Friday. I only went out one time for Black Friday, just to see what the sales were. And OMG!!! I swear it's worse than shopping on Christmas Eve! Let's just say I haven't repeated that mistake!
We're getting the holiday "rush" at work now, so I'll be getting some good hours from now till the New Year when it will slow down again. But, by then, Winter semester will be starting and I've taken a full load of classes this time around: HTML Design, Spreadsheet Fundamentals, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Family Law. That is going to be a fun semester. And I'll be having the same instructor for the Criminal Law and Family Law classes that I have right now for my Substantive Law class. And he is a riot. I cannot believe Fall semester is ending soon. Seems like it just started. I'm so looking forward to completing this degree and moving on to better and brighter times.
Work today wasn't really work. Imagine, getting paid a full days wages to help decorate for the holidays. We got the hotel looking nice and ready for the holiday season. I even got my flu shot today...and anyone who knows me, knows I don't like needles, but, what the heck. The shot was free, and since I'm working with the public, better safe than sorry. Right? Got a couple of days off from work now so I'll be getting my homework assignments finished and bracing myself for the "fun" starting next week. But it's going to feel good to be busy again. I don't mind it slowing down for a few days, but, the recession has affected the travel industry, and now we slow way down.
This year for Thanksgiving, my family will be getting together Saturday instead of Thursday. My sister and her husband will have Saturday off, and since they live the furthest out, we all decided to wait till Saturday for our Thanksgiving dinner. Mom says she will have the standard pumpkin pie for desert, but instead of the apple pie she also makes, this year she's going to do a chocolate pie...it's got a funny name to it, French Silk or something like that. All I know is she said the magic word, "chocolate".
In the next few weeks I'm going to be dragging out the Christmas stuff and decorating around here. I've got 2 strings of lights, and I would like to try to deck out my front porch with them this year. And of course, there will be the yearly battle of wills with Buddy about the ornaments on the tree and how he cannot "crunch" them. He does seem to finally be out of his chewing stage, so, I'm hoping he's done with "crunching" ornaments too. Dogs. They can be great companions, and on the flip side, they can be a pain. So, anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening.
