Once The Change has finished, and the body moves into its "advanced" stage, the female brain gets a second wind. While men start to show increased interest in relationships as they age, the mature woman becomes ready to risk conflict — especially if her nest is now empty.

She may continue to feel motivated to help others, but her focus might shift from her immediate family to local and global communities. She may also feel a strong desire to do more for herself, and her career, after decades of care-taking, explains Brizendine.

Whether she sows her newly wild oats with whirlwind travel, going back to school, or by playing the field depends on the individual, of course. But for many 50-plus women the twilight years are characterized by an increased "zest" for life and a hearty appetite for adventure.

Have you noticed changes in your priorities? Your attitude? Your willingness to put up with the needy, those unwilling or incapable of meeting your needs.

I have started thinking of future plans that have little to do with living near family or being a caretaker. It goes more along the lines of taking chances and enjoying life for a change.

You bet I have! Love family & friends... and help when I am able. Otherwise, I live for what I want, when I want and with whom I want, yet I fly solo most of the time because I can't find any men to keep up with me who aren't a pain in the ass. I'm through wasting time on losers, players and those who only care about themselves.

I read so may profiles saying they know how to satisfy a woman, but they fail to ask the woman if she was really satisfied. If they had asked I'm certain many would say that they were not satisfied. I'm one of them... maybe I should consider a career change and begin charging for teaching men how to be better lovers... roflmao!

Many mature women have more confidence with an ability to change and experience new things. I've found too many men who are satisfied with the status quo, therefore, usually boring (and not just in the sack), needy and watch life from the sidelines. I don't put up with it period!

Maybe women over 50 actually should be looking for a slightly younger man in order to share the same interests. I don't mean someone young enough to be one of their kids but at least young enough to still have some sense of adventure left in them.
