Time to kick it into high gear posted 11/3/2011 3:19:48 PM | 0 kudos what's this?     report abuse   sugarnspice005 It's already November 3...and in just 7 weeks, it will be Christmas! Wow! That doesn't seem too far away! And of course, I haven't even started Christmas shopping. Then again, I haven't even begun to drag out my Christmas decorations. I'll wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to do all of that. (Perfect, built in excuse for procrastinating I'd say! ) Yeah, I know, I've seen it too, Christmas stuff already out on the shelves at the stores. Capitalism at it's finest. Wherever the money can be made, right? While I don't really care too much for the cold, I do find these to my 2 favorite holidays. Why? Family. Simple as that. Has nothing to do with how much money I can't spend and everything to do with spending time with the people I love. Also, things will pick up and work, and I can get more hours too! That's always a good thing. I think this year, I'll put the garland out. The younger kitty, she's 2 now, so I'm HOPING she will leave it alone. And Buddy, he seems to be over his chewing stage finally, so maybe I can leave my singing Scooby Doo out this year. And the ornaments. He is such a goofy dog. And...one question....who thinks NOW is too early to be hearing Christmas songs 24/7 on the radio? I ask this because there is a local station around here talking about soon they will be switching to their all Christmas songs format soon. To me, it should be AFTER Thanksgiving. 	who thinks NOW is too early to be hearing Christmas songs 24/7 on the radio? If it's about Santa, Reindeer, Elves, & Frosty the Snowman it is for adults but for kids it may be a different story. To me, it should be AFTER Thanksgiving. But, I guess there are those who like it earlier. If it's songs about the true meaning of Christmas then all year round wouldn't hurt.

	Maybe start on December 25 at 12:00:01 A.M and stop on December 25 at 11:59:59 P.M. That would do it for me!

	Due to the melting pot of religions in the family the celebrations start on December 21 and keep going until January 6. I love the holidays which the kids joke turns me into Martha Stewart on a budget. Spent yesterday painting tree ornaments that have seen better days and repainting the Yule village that goes with the train under the tree. I will admit to watching a Christmas movie on Netflix while painting. I am not big on playing the same carols over and over again. Just wish if they have to be played for two months someone would write some new ones that are actually good.

	When I was younger and worked in a retail environment they would play the Christmas songs non-stop and it drove me crazy, but these days I don't mind so much being reminded as the days get shorter, colder, and more dreary that there's a festive holiday coming up. I do feel for those that are force-fed the stuff at work, though.
