Thinking about the lottery, like the Mega Millions, with the Jackpot currently at $78 million.

So, let's play the "what would I do if...................."

I would:

I would pay off my mortgage and student loans.

I would make sure my parents could comfortably retire

I would invest and let my winnings work for me

I would help out my sisters

Take a vacation, get my passport, and visit Ireland. I've always been fascinated by that country.

See the Rocky Mountains, the Grand Canyon, and the ocean.

And, I would have a 2012 Dodge Challenger, and a 2012 Grand Cherokee sitting in my driveway..the Challenger would be for spring, summer, fall driving, the Jeep for winter driving.

And before anyone points it out....I'm quite aware the good old Uncle Sam dips his hand in the winnings and takes out his share of taxes also. This is supposed to be for fun.....something I haven't seen too much of around here lately.

Two things I would do right off: you have 60 days or less to decide if you want a lump sum or annual payout- me personally, I would go with lump sum simply because I wouldn't trust whomever would be making the payments, would be there years from now!

During that 60 days, I would be looking for places to park my money to preserve what I have after taxes. I would never trust any financial adviser to 'invest' my money! I would have any account(s) I have, watched over by a competent attorney and then, I'd hire another attorney, to watch over the first one! Insurance is cheap compared to what some big lotto winners have lost!

After all that and my money is safe, THEN I'd buy the home where I want with acreage then set it up to be 'off grid' so the utilities don't get my money- pay off any debts and party some!

Then I would join some monthly clubs like: auto of the month, tools of the month, clothes of the month, travel places of the month and for sure, ladies of the month! Actually, I'm sure the ladies would have little problems finding me!

I would buy a condo in New York while the prices are reasonable. Hire a nurse to take care of my mother and take a trip somewhere I have always wanted to go.

I would also build a new Children's clinic up at Pine Ridge because they really need one and pay off all my kid's bill's resulting from the bad economy.

After that i am not sure what I would do next.

That reminds me of the joke about the old farmer who won the million dollar jackpot, and was asked what he planned to do with it:

"Farm 'til it's gone".

Less see my home and all my cars and trucks are paid for but I could see a new Harley in there! Guess I could pay off my daughters student loans and get her a new car, Her morgage is paid so! After that I'd just do mostly what I do now but probably in a better fashion!

I would do the obvious first...place my money where it's safe and invest to hopefully make it work for me. Then...

Clear my kids debts. Get my youngest straight to the dentist to fix her teeth.

Take care of any medical needs I can't afford now.

Replace my car with a new one...probably a Buick. Get myself a pickup truck...nuttin' fancy, just something that I can haul stuff in.

Buy a new home, nuttin' fancy but roomy!

Buy furniture that actually matches! Especially a bedroom suite. I'd guess I dream most of having a home big enough not to be crowded. A full, finished basement so I could have a pool table and exercise equipment. Plenty of room for my dolls and other things I like to collect. A car and a half garage and at least one storage shed. No swimming pool...too much work and upkeep. Enough land so no neighbors on my elbow. Lot's of trees. A screened in summer porch and lots of gas log fireplaces.

I would never go nuts and run through my money. I just want to live comfortably.

I'm not much into traveling so I'd not take trips. I don't think my life would change much from the way it is now. I'd just not have to worry about bills, my car and truck would last me the rest of my life and so would my new home.

Oh, one last thing that would actually be at the top of my list. I'd get my granddaughter to the best doctors in the world. We would not stop until we found a doctor who cares enough to find answers.

She is once again in the hospital but she did have a whole month between her last episodes of vomiting. She's spent more time in the hospital than out this past year or maybe more.

She's lost 50 lbs. this year...she can't afford to lose anymore. She's one sick little girl. Yeah, she's gonna be 20 in a couple of weeks but she battled this cyclic vomiting syndrom or sometimes called migraines of the stomack since she was 4 yrs. old. We just wonder how much longer her body can handle the extreme vomiting.

Anyway....didn't mean to bring gloom to your blog sugar...sorry. But yes, I'd spend whatever it takes to find answers for her.

Helping family & whoever that is important to you is a given if one has any decency. I myself honestly would be happy as Hell that I'm out of debt & would never work for anyone ever again & just enjoy life.

I would love to win it so I could try to build it up to 2 trillion. lol

Seriously, I wouldn't want a lot of people to know I have that kind of money, but still would be able to enjoy it and live a little with it.
