I love a peaceful day. Where I don't let anything get to me. You know, turning off cable news shows has been one of the best ideas I've had in a while. I still turn on local news, see what kind of craziness there is out there. Besides, if I really want to know what I'm missing as far as politics goes...I just read the blogs on MD. Some of those people, I have to sit back and laugh at. They take their positions way to personal and serious. I even see the "rivals" take one blog and turn it into a political soap box for them to duke it out. I just have to wonder if they take prescriptions for high blood pressure with they way they get so worked up over any opinion differing from theirs.

Yesterday was a nice day. A co worker and myself both have our birthdays this month, and our employer gives out these certificates for birthday dinners to employees. We have to use the certificate at our employers restaurant, but hey, when you figure the price of one of their dinners can run close to $20, and you get a chance for a free dinner...why not take it? So, we made a day of it, hung out, and had a good time. We even made plans to do this again next year. It sure beat staying home all day. And the Chicken Parmesan there is actually the "real" thing. Real chicken breast instead of a paper thin, breaded, processed patty. They use real marinara sauce and egg noodles, not spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.

After that, I stopped by my parents for a couple of hours. It's strange there right now. My sister's dog, which would be my Sasha's brother, died a month back suddenly. He was cute dog, had this silly way of greeting family by finding a toy to carry around while wagging his tail. So, yeah, it's taking some getting used to. And while talking to my Mom, I warned her that it's almost time for my bird to "migrate" over to her house again. To save money, I keep my thermostat low here, too low to keep my bird here, so, he spends the winters at my parents house. Which, my Mom's bird likes. I keep teasing Mom that her bird has a "crush" on my bird.

Anyway, I hope everyone's Friday is a peaceful one. And have a good weekend!

I have been seeing the same thing pretty much, but it's been about our state's congressional redistricting. On some of the newspapers web sites such as the Cincinnati Enquirer and the Columbus Dispatch, a lot of the liberal came out posting their whining and bitching about the gerrymandering going on here in Ohio with how the districts have been redrawn and how unfair is it. Over the past few years 4 years before last years state offices election when they were in power for 4 years, they had a chance to sign on to an independent appointment board to draw the lines when it came time to. Thinking the reason they didn't was because they thought that they were going to win the state offices back last November and do do their gerrymandering by redrawing the lines to favor their chances on winning in the new districts.

When I worked in hotels way back when one of the perks to offset low wages was free meals, or great meals for a couple of bucks, everyday when working. Did that go away?

A bird that has a Winter vacation home?? How about a Hungarian goose down stuffed cage cover or would your bird take offense to that??
