The Ziegfeld Follies spawned many new starlets, beginning around the turn of
the twentieth century. Many of the stars of the day such as Eddie Cantor, W. C. Fields,
and Will Rogers made appearances at the Follies, and helped to boost their
popularity. Perhaps the most well known of the Ziegfeld girls (to today's, public,
anyway) was Lucille Ball.
