I have been in touch with a newbie about blogging and cited the "good old days":

My pleasure, What I would suggest that you do is to locate some bloggers whose posts interest you. From their main page, click on their blogs icon. Then go back a ways. Many of us, myself included, have run out of new material. Our earlier stuff is the best. Once you get to their blog listings you can go back about two to four years ago and see blogs that were excellent, got many views, and lots of comments. You will be astounded.

It is my opinion that a good blog will engage its audience and spark comments, debate. The themes can vary. The site is largely boring now, but a good post from a new person will get a good response.

Here are a few that filled the bill to give you and idea:

Blogging is like the snowstorm you had to endure and walk to school in. Each telling the snow got deeper and the hills both ways got steeper. Yes they were some good ones a few great ones very few. Some were funny others sad. Could it be good again like old times ?No those days are gone waiting for a new batch of bloggers ,if they haven't given up before they start. Write what you know write what you feel. Write what out want to know? Just might keep he

It is not what it was here when I joined in '09. I think that sites like this have pretty much run their course as most people have moved on to the large social sites that have games as well.

As for blogging. Blog what you want, everyone else does. And if some people do not like the blog that's on them.

Many people put themselves into their blog almost as if the are giving birth to a baby. It is personal to them. In reality, many posts are lame, boring and/or repetitive, but people who like the poster will be positive with courtesy comments..."Bless your little heart". The result is evident in the interaction. People can rag at me if they want, but tough titty, the truth hurts... it is fucking boring here overall

Like my Dad said when the family dog ate my mothers ring "Do you know how much shit we have to go thru before we find that gem?"

Ahem...I can think of at least three good friends who spend much more time
on Farcebook now, which I find really boring

I guess I'm just not personally interested in childish games and updates every 15 minutes on people I don't really know

You used mines as an example?

I will say that its a shame, that even I dont have the fire I once had. I guess fire needs oxygen, and AMD has long since been choked off.

Not for being boring because it is & by the way it's been going you could leave & come back after 6 months to see a majority on the same old soap box.

Some haven't got nothing but a laptop & would be lonely & lost without it. So it's safe to say their ass probably takes up 5 city blocks.

It sure as hell is nothing like it used to be around here back in the day. Sunshine blogged about anything from jokes to her toys, Straddle's blogs were an adventure to read, and just an overall "anything goes" atmosphere of blogs. True, a lot the folks who participated back then have moved on..change happens. Can't prevent it. I saw somewhere where one mentioned that others have moved on to social sites like face book...and that could be true. I know of at least a couple of fellow Pervians who used to blog here frequently and are now on face book more than they are on here.

As for it being "boring" here...well, when no one is participating, except Whapper with his gazillion blogs a day, what the hell do you expect? And, as I've pointed out before, when a new member is checking out the site, and looks at the blogs and sees endless Whapper with a few blogs intermingled that talk about how boring things are...that is not going to inspire them to stick around and "waste their time", now is it?

Let me ask: If you are new to a site, and go to check out the forums/blogs, and constantly see how "boring" the site is, nothing but bitching about how "it's not like the good ole days"...are you going to stay at that site? Me..no, I wouldn't. If I were to see that, I'd be canceling real quick and moving onto something more POSITIVE.

But hey....that's just me.

Well, if those blogs discussing about
how boring things are
are truthful and accurate, I don't think it would matter as they wouldn't be sticking around anyway
