TV Viewing

When living together with an SO how is/was TV viewing handled if you didn't necessarily want to watch the same show? Some people compromise by finding a show both people can handle which could be both people's second choice. Others alternate on whose program is on. Others watch what they want on separate TVs.

If it is something I don't want to watch, I am not going watch it. If we can't find something we both enjoy, I'll watch something on another TV or find something else to do. But this was really not an issue very often.

No, that was never a big problem. Now if it was sports on tv always had a book or 2 or 3 going .

That reminds me of when I was a kid and we had 1 tv in the house. Saturday and Sunday were sports, sports and more sports and my dad hogged the tv all weekend. LOL

These days if I do not want to watch it, I don't. There is more than one tv in the house and I have a computer to play on. So for me it is seperate.

There is no doubt that we have many more options today compared to our "Leave it to Beaver" times. We have the computer, cable, DVDs/videos, more TV sets, TIVO, etc. Do you think that our grandkids, even our children can envision that world when there was six TV channels or less? I doubt it

I will not be rude & change the channel if she is already into a program but she is very submissive with the remote & gives me the reigns to it. With her being generous sparks more arguments than if I was to just take over the remote. I don't think it's fair for her to be halfway into a show & give up the T.V. when I get home but she always does & we end up fussing in a generosity battle.

I'll either sit and watch it or go into another room and quilt...or sit with him and read a book. The only time that happens if he's watching the race or I'm watching an old movie...although he has gotten into a few of them lately!

There would be two tv's in the house, so there should never be a problem. Sure, I'll maybe watch a show or movie with her that she likes that I can tolerate, and vice versa. But there would be a lot of shows and movies that we will be watching together that we both like.

Never had that problem. If someone is watching something I don't want to watch, I'll watch whatever it is I want to watch on another set.

When I was married it was whatever HE wanted to watch! These days though I watch what I want to... but if anyone is here I am willing to negotiate. If I did have a significant other I would compromise or go into my room and watch TV or a movie... doesn't matter to me... But I have high speed internet now... I can watch whatever I want on the computer and plug in the headphones.. dont' make a shit to me!
