Heartless, is that the word
The word I'm looking for?
You used me up
Used me up and then got bored.

Heartless? No. That's not it
Selfish, maybe. That I get.
You made me fall for you
Then you walked away
Said you loved me, too-
No meaning in the words you say.

I wonder what the hell I thought
Letting you have my heart
I said I knew better all the time-
Yet I thought that you were mine.

I gave myself to you, all of me
And I lost myself in the mix
I'm not the girl I used to be
And I can't find the fix.

I've become quite numb
To the situation now it seems
I can't believe I was so dumb
To share my hopes and dreams

Heartless.. yes that is it.
That IS the word I'm looking for.
That's what you are to the letter-
Yes, that's the perfect fit.

Everybody has been dumped, everybody has been dumped. His fault, your fault, nobody's fault, everybody's fault, it's all the same.

THAT is a pretty big paintbrush...... Not too long ago, I'd posted it......I agree...What he ^ said^.

I've known women that entered a relationship, for the comfort and stability....but 'she' did
not have the feelings of love....Just wanted a 'safe harbor' till her storm blew over.....
It's not just men, that do that.
I don't think is 'heartless'.....more of a 'self-preservation' thing.....
I'd never blame a woman for wanting a safety net, till she was on her own....can't blame men, either'

Been there, done that, got the 'T' shirt. It's the loosing a best friend, that sucks....

Oops

Everybody has been dumped, everybody has been dumped. His fault, your fault, nobody's fault, everybody's fault, it's all the same.

That should read:

Everybody has been dumped, everybody has dumped somebody. Their fault, your fault, nobody's fault, everybody's fault, it's all the same.

Not so fast Bruce

There are always users out there. In the end they are usually the ones who end up suffering when everyone has caught on to their little game. They are lessons learned to make sure we have all the facts and know what the other person's motives are the next time.

A person shows you who they are right from the beginning unless they are a master con artist. (And trust me there are more than a few of them in the world) Usually it is the victim who does not see it because they are to blinded by "love" and they count on that to get over on people.

The his fault her fault their fault does not always wash because some people truly are scum bags in the world looking for their next victim. It is not always a 50/50 thing.

In most cases I would say under the best circumstances it is 70/30 because in those cases someone's behavior has become unacceptable to the other party causing things to go downhill fast. It is rare that two people just look at each other and say lets end this now.

Coincidentally... I broke up with her because she cheated on me.

Because I'm better than that.

Yeah, you love someone, give them your all, and they do something stupid like cheating or just taking advantage of you and you're left feeling "numb". And I'm not going to say the old cliche' of "there is better out there"...I mean, we all know that already.

Take the time to heal. Broken hearts suck, I think most, if not all, of us have been there a time or two.
