It is official - the State of MN shuts down ... can we say partisan politics??

People on here that know me well, know I don't talk politics and have never voted a straight ticket, except for primaries when you have no choice. The checks and balances are there, with a Democrat Governor and a Republican House. But it seems like instead of wanting what is right for the people of the state and working together to get it done, they ALL have their own personal agenda. Fortunately for me, I will still be able to collect my unemployment - a whole $125 a week, that the House wanted to stop because it was deemed not necessary, but a judge said it was necessary to keep going.

Hmmm, where is Michelle Bachmann??? Not here voting voting even though she is paid by the state to be there ... Too busy in Iowa??

If you are planning on coming up here, carry a bucket as the waysides are closed. State parks are all closed, so no camping. The Canterbury race track is closed, since it is run by the gaming commission, as are many bars/restaurants that were working on getting licenses issued or extended.

I know some will blast me, but the blame goes to BOTH parties not being flexible. Remember, we didn't have The Governator, we had The Body for a while up here.

BOTH parties not being flexible.

Thank you!! You're right... and until both parties learn to sit down and actually discuss the issues that need to be resolved to help the citizens as a whole, as opposed to never getting anything useful accomplished because of the finger pointing and bickering and 'what's in it for us' (politicians), we'll never get our economy back on track again!

Same goes for all levels of politics!!

I saw that and find it pathetic that gridlock and partisanship overrules pragmatism. As a result, the people of the state suffer. I don't recall this country being as polarized as it is now, not even in the late sixties/early seventies. No offense to Sugar but her cries about electing people who do what is right really seems to be pissing in the wind right now and it will get worse

Yes Shawn, she is a U.S. Representative:
So my question would be to griz is why would she have to be in Minnesota while this going on, especially since she votes in the U.S. House in D.C. and not in the state of Minnesota?

I'm not sure why her name would even come up other than her being from Minnesota. The state legislature which consists of state reps and house reps are involved in this along with the governor.

I have to agree with Straddle on this, she had nothing to do with it.

Isn't it the state of MN that pays her to be there and participate in these circumstances?

All of the responsible parties need to lose their jobs and pay for a while and discover what they are doing to the average person by not getting off their asses and getting this taken care of.

I'm not sure why her name would even come up other than her being from Minnesota
Because the blog is about Mn, and she is supposed to work for/with them.

There was no reason for it to happen.... and as OHT said, they just took a lot of revenue away from the state, which sucks majorly. I hope they settle it early tues morn. Personally I think they should have had to work on it all weekend. Holiday or not. No one else gets to celebrate it.

BTW, good article link, Dawn.

Again, she has very little say in the matter since she's not a Minnesota state legislator, nor governor, and has no say or vote on the state budget.

??? Pays her to be there? I think the federal government pays her salary and not the state. Would you like her to be able to have a say in this state budget there in your state? I don't think you would want that.

Here is the breakdown:

We have a State Level and a Federal Level when it comes to our elected officials.

The 50 states have their own individual legislative branch consisting of State Representatives and State Senators who focus on their states laws/issues.

Then we have the Federal Branch, Congress, which has the House of Representatives (of which Michele Bachman is a member of), and the Senate. This branch works on legislation on the federal level. Since Ms. Bachman is a U.S. Representative, she has no pull/say/influence on what happened in Minnesota today as she is not in the State level.

it's not the president who makes the decisions, but Congress. The House and Senate have the final say in all matters.
You mean it's not Obama's fault I had a migraine this morning? Then who shalll I blame it on?
Surely it was his fault, everything else is.

Of course it was Bachmanns fault......as Obslama was out playing golf......it's
ALWAYS the fault of a Conservative.............Socialists, only time they 'work', is when they point a finger.. (or piss away tax money)
And Weiner was too busy with his cell camera.

Too bad we can't give 'brownies', as opposed to greenies.....for a fekked up post.
