Rep. Anthony Weiner stepping down!
At first thought, it amazes me that people in a political position like Weiner, will be stepping down from because of his own stupidity, not to mention causing himself and his family embarrassment to no end!
On the other hand, it just goes to show the low-life's the citizens keep putting into office!
Perhaps if people would vote on people for their merits and experience in being capable of serving their elected positions, rather than because he/she is 'cute, fatherly/motherly looking, religious practice, what can you do for me, how much to buy your vote, etc., etc., ad nauseam- we might get people in office who actually give a shit about our Constitution and country and not for what they can get for themselves! Now THAT would be "Hope and Change" for us.

because he/she is 'cute, fatherly/motherly looking What!!??? This guy is no Jack Kennedy. I didn't see the pics but maybe his dick is his best feature.
Perhaps if people would vote on people for their merits and experience in being capable of serving their elected positions Well, the guy had been in congress for 13 years so I would assume his constituents were satisfied with him or he wouldn't have won seven elections

The only reason he went down like he did was because he lied to the media. Once you do this it's hard to stay in public office. Had he been upfront, I'm sure the media would have given him a free pass like they do with most dems.

Yeah right I am sure that John Edwards will agree with you What a republican homer you can be Hell, the media feasts on this stuff no matter what party the perp is in. Late night talk shows love it as it provides comedic material. The happiest person in all of this has got to be Arno because he got the spotlight turned away from himself.
Wake up straddle, it isn't about being a democrat or republican. It is about being a politician and Americans thrive on scandals involving politicians. We love dirty laundry. We certainly have had a lot in the last few years with both parties and the media has jumped in like stink on a fart in every case.

What!!??? This guy is no Jack Kennedy. I didn't see the pics but maybe his dick is his best feature. That was a general statement referring to some of the ridiculous reasons people use to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice and reflects an inherent flaw, among others, in our election process!

History has shown dems are given a free pass by the media more so than Repubicans for the most part! The media is also more tolerant to such bad behavior and coruption by dems as long as them themselves (media) are not lied to.

We love dirty laundry. To further my point, it extends to anybody famous in a sex scandal or other issues that hs a celebrity status. A few recent examples is how much press coverage in the last few years went towards the personal issues Tiger Woods, Brett Favre, Lindsey Lohan, Mel Gibson, Ben Rothlisberger, the Ohio State football team, etc.

Go look up the last 20 years of our congress and senate with the people who been caught doing some wrong doing and/or saying something inappropriate in public. Robert Byrd was a klansman in his younger years, free pass. Strong Thurman, Trent Lott, said some inappropriate racial statements. Media went after their asses. Foley, sex scandal, media went after his ass and forced to resign. Clinton, sex scandal, played ignorant to what sexual realtions and conduct was in stating oral is not sexual relations. Rangle from New York, curruption, free pass. Just to name a few.

You two: Straddle and WoW crack me up!
It's easy to resolve one's thoughts about the news media versus politicians! They both feed on each other and we'll never get the truth out of either one because both have their own perverted agendas!

I believe the last poll I saw not too long ago had the president's approval rating somewhere in the 45 percent area, to where congress had something like in the high 20's, with the news media in the upper teens. I would think that the news media would and should start worrying about their image instead of dems in office.

Just to name a few. You forgot Newt cheating, divorced and marrying the cheater...twice, and let's not forget Larry Craig. That's enough for the moment. We all know the score. I'm done with this blog.

You forgot Newt cheating, divorced and marrying the cheater...twice, and let's not forget Larry Craig. Nah, I didn't forget Newt. That goes without saying. The media is still going after Newt today.
That's enough for the moment. We all know the score. I'm done with this blog. Yes, we ceratinly DO know the score. Why you gave the names of Newt and Craig just even more proved I was right. The media went after both hardcore. Yes, we know the score alright.

36 Republicans to 28 Dems with sex scandals

Just my own observations..but I've seen the media rake any over the coals who has cheated on a spouse and then tried lying to cover it up. I've seen the media go after those who say something stupid publicly and rake them over the coals.
Bottom line, politicians should know they are under the proverbial microscope, and if they're doing things they shouldn't..it will get found out.
Media bias? Yeah, it's out there...if it's a Democrat, FOX will hang them out to dry. If it's a Republican, then MSNBC will hang them out to dry. There ya go..."fair and balanced bashing".

36 Republicans to 28 Dems with sex scandals When score was brought up by Bruce, I think it meant in regards to who the media went after more reagrding Republicans vs. dems. There's no question that the media has been very hard on Republicans more so that dems over the years.
