So not that I am really asking anyone what I should do.......but I am asking opinions, or what you think you would do.

Here's the situation...
Recently I switched cell phone carriers.
Got new phones, yadda, yadda. Since I have my grand daughter on my cell account.......mostly so I can get ahold of her.... I had 2 phones from the previous carrier.

I put mine on craigslist and sold it within 2 or 3 days. With at least a dozen offers to trade for all sorts of stuff.
Then I put her phone on and sold it on the 3rd day.
Not bad, huh?

Last week when we got the new phones I went on Ebay to see if I could find extra screen protectors for a good price. Teenager with no screen protector = messed up phone.
I happened to run across an auction for the same phone that I had just bought and the first bid was $.99. With a buy it now price of $40. So just because, I bid $.99 as the first bidder.
All the rest of them were going for at least $60 up to $129. From what I noticed.

Yesterday I got notice I won. For 99 cents!!
My first thought was huh? I had kind of forgotten about it. Then I thought I can put it on craigs list and get $40 out of it pretty easily. And even if not, since we both got the same phone, we have a back up just in case.
I paypaled her the money.

Then I got to thinking that if I were her I would be highly upset, maybe even pissed.
And I felt bad for her at the same time. I am sure she thought she would probably get at least very close to that $40 she wanted. I can't believe she didn't. Instead she ended up giving it away. Yes,we all know that's a risk you take on ebay.

So my next thought was to contact her and tell her to refund my money to my paypal acct, there was a $5 shipping fee, and I will just let her keep the phone and she can try to resell it again for a higher price. A more deserving price for that phone.

So, opinions......... what would you do in my situation?
What if you were in hers?

I will also add that right now money is extremely tight here, and Griz just lost his job with No notice last week. His contract was just done......and that's that. It sucks, but there is nothing that can be done about it. IT's are a dime a dozen up there. I don't know about anywhere else.........

Would that play a factor in your decision?

That is the woman's problem on the low price, she should have thought of that possibility. Who has to pay to ship it? I would keep the third phone as a back up in case the kid loses or destroys hers.

She put it on ebay for .99 you got it for .99 plus shipping. It is a binding contract so you just got a bargain. Trust me if it were the other way around every seller on there would take the bargain and run. Then resell it at a later date for more money.
I wouldn't feel bad about it. If she did not want to sell it for that price she should have never listed it for that price or have at least put a reserve on it (which some sellers do)

I have been a seller on there since 1998 and I never expect anything to sell for more than the base list price. If she has been selling more than a week she knew that too.

Yes keep the phone .She should have known there was a chance the phone would go for that price .

If she has been selling more than a week she knew that too.
She had 3 things listed, 2 cell phones and a digital camera.
One cell phone went for just under $6, both the other items went for $.99.
And she has 7 feedback comments, ALL of which are from other sellers with her as the buyer.

You should have kept the phone and just gave her 99cents..Cheaper..

I'm with the majority here. I'd keep it. Like the others have pointed out...if she's listing for .99, then she should have known the risk that might be all she gets. Common sense would tell a person that with times being what they are, buyers are looking for deals. If there is price one wants to get out of what they are selling on ebay...they should list close to that price and hope for the best.
