Michael Grimm was just on the Today show! He's pretty good and I think he'll go farther than being a flash in the pan...lol I checked out his Web site and he released an album yesterday. Unless he can get some C&W crossover he'll be a flash in the pan largely due to circumstances if he stays in the blues genre. Let me explain.
There are three key factors involved: Air play Recorded music sales Concerts
In the greater Dallas area the number of radio stations that play blues is zero. Our last small showcase blues club closed down last year. The people who get into the blues by and large are old farts like doc and myself. We don't purchase music generally, it is the people 25 and under that do. The only artists remotely affiliated with blues that can come here and can draw more than a few thousand folks is Eric Clapton and ZZ Top, and ZZ Top is mostly doing casinos at Indian reservations.
