Congressional Republicans go home to mixed reviews
By MIKE SCHNEIDER and DINESH RAMDE Associated Press..More Latest News ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) —
Freshman Rep. Daniel Webster was armed with a rainbow of graphs and pie charts, ready to make the GOP's case for budget cuts before his own constituents. He was barely a minute into his prepared remarks Tuesday when the yelling started.

The first heckler shouted his doubts about the Florida congressman's promise to do what is right in Washington. From there, the hour-long meeting in Orlando was filled with a constant stream of boos and questioners in the crowd of 300 shouting over each other.

Twelve minutes into his remarks, Webster couldn't be heard over the shouting on both sides. He tried to continue but then stood quietly for a minute smiling, his hands clasped together in front.

The Republican plan to fundamentally restructure Medicare and cut social safety net programs like food stamps and Medicaid has at times been a raucously tough sell as its supporters head home and meet with their constituents, including Democrats organized against them. Even the architect of the plan, Rep. Paul Ryan, has been booed, though many of those attending four meetings Tuesday in his home state of Wisconsin were supportive.

I have but one question about politicians:

How is it that when our government causes economic problems through their policies, that the citizens have to pay for the politicians stupidity, through reductions in one form or another of the citizen's entitlements and the politicians do not??

When they say the citizens will have to 'sacrifice' to help reduce our debt- that's exactly what they mean- you never hear the politicians say they have to sacrifice too!!

Who deserves to make the "sacrifice", the people receiving the benefits, or the tax payers?

What gets me is some politicians will screw over the elderly, children and the working class poor every chance they get and the people they screwed over will vote to keep them in office.

I can only explain this as the poor and elderly tend to be the least informed of all the voters and don't look much past the bs they are handed by these people. To them when they complain I just say hey you voted for them, not me.

I agree with what RJ says. And want to add to it that it seems people rely way too much on the news media or on campaign ads to make an "informed" decision. I used to be like that myself...then after the 2000 election, I started to go to home pages of candidates and read what they stand for, look through voting records, and what bills they support....and I've learned that what is shown on the news media and in campaign ads is nothing more than fluffed up b.s. That is why I have called the cable news networks nothing more than high priced "cheer leaders" for their candidates of choice...and make no mistake...that is what they do. And campaign ads...I can go to a grade school play ground and watch the kids there have a more mature debate than what I see politicians throw out there.

It's true, sometimes the candidate I vote for doesn't win, but, at least I know I made more of an informed decision. And I dropped the whole "party affiliation" ideal a while back. I'm American, and that is how I vote.

you never hear the politicians say they have to sacrifice too!!

Why should they have too ... they wrote and voted into law yearly pay raises ... Hey, they have expenses too

Lets see .. they are public officials, but don't have to worry about having to find affordable health care, their pensions are safe, even though states are voting to reduce other public workers pensions as they are too costly.

Guess what people, no mater who we vote in, they are insulated from what us minions have to put up with.
