I'm sure you all have heard about Prince William's upcoming wedding this Friday. Doesn't matter what news channel you turn on, could be the local stations, or the cable networks, they are all buzzing about it. And I've seen this question on different sites: "Are you going to watch the Royal Wedding?". Me, no, I will not be watching it. I see it as two young people in love getting married, nothing different from anyone else in the world..except that the groom is the adult son of Princess Diana, who the media, hell, world, was obsessed with. So obsessed to the point that, I feel, in large part, contributed to that day back in '97 the accident that took her life.
Now, don't get me wrong...I admired Diana. She stood up to the Royals..she got a divorce..something virtually unheard of for a person in her position. I felt for her when she broke down and basically told the world she just wanted a little privacy. And through all of this, I always wondered...what is America's fascination with England's Royal family? Is it the "fairy tale" aspect of it? I fully understand why those in the UK are interested, it's "their" Prince.
So.....anyone here going to watch "THE" wedding? I'm working that day, so no, I won't be watching it. And, even if I weren't working, I still wouldn't. Just not something that would interest me. Although...a tour of Buckingham Palace or Windsor would be awesome!

So.....anyone here going to watch "THE" wedding? Nope! And if it were possible for me to have had an out of body experience while still alive just before my two weddings, I wouldn't have watched them either!

I will have to watch enough of it to get a feel for the flowers. I have at least six obsessed brides who will not tell me what kind of flowers they want until after that damn wedding.
I think Americans are obsessed with the royal family because we do not have one of our own. We don't get to watch a child grow up and know one day they will be king or queen. Perhaps being interested in that comes from the fact a good many Americans have ancestry back to those countries combined with the fact we are fed the fairy tales by Disney growing up.

if it were possible for me to have had an out of body experience while still alive just before my two weddings, I wouldn't have watched them either! If we could do this I bet many marriages wouldn't occur which would actually be a very good thing!
Since I don't have a TV I won't be watching. If I did, it would be to see a bit of history in the making and that's about it beyond the architecture of West Minster Abbey.

I really don't know. I don't plan on it, but that doesn't mean I won't. I admire the two of them doing so many thing more modern , yet still keeping with some traditions. I do hope their marriage is better than his mom and dads.........

I think the wedding is at like 4 AM, our time. Not for sure. If I'm up, I'll tune it... but I'm not setting my alarm for it! I'm sure we will be able to see it on the news, on the gossip shows (which I do NOT watch!!!) And it will more than likely be on youtube too.... no real reason to set an alarm and wake up to watch it. I remember getting up early with my Mom and watching Diana marry Charles.. It's just not something I'm going to make it a point to watch but we'll all see it, again and again and again and again and well..............again!

I wont go looking for it but if its on when I happen to be watching TV I would watch it. Only cause I would rather watch a nice happy wedding than all the tragedy, violence and other stupid drama they try to call entertainment these days.
