Spring is making it's way here. The snow is almost all gone..our temps have been around the 50 degree mark for a few days now. But OMG..Sunday's weather was wild here!!! All the local stations in the area said temps would get around 40, and that the precipitation would be "all rain". Yeah right! While working, I remember looking out the window and it was SNOWING..big, heavy, wet flakes of snow! This is the kind of snow that doesn't stick around. But, what it does, is makes a slushy mess on roadways. And slush can be just as tricky to drive on as snow or ice. And, I guess some drivers forgot about that.

When I left work to head home, on Curtis Rd, I saw the clean up of 2 different accidents. One was a Jeep Liberty roll over into a ditch. Lucky for that driver, it was a shallow ditch because further up the road, towards where I work, those ditches are DEEP! Then, just around the snake curves, there was a red pick up with a smashed front being loaded onto a wrecker. In talking with a co worker on Monday, I found out that there had been another car that had it's rear end smashed.. easy to guess what happened there. But, the one that really sticks out...is on the expressway. Most drivers were doing between 55/60 that day because, while the lanes were somewhat wet...they still had that slush on them, that, if hit at 70+mph..could send a vehicle spinning. Well, that happened to a driver. I remember this person flying past, a BRAND NEW car..still had it's window sticker, and had the temporary plate on it. 5 minutes later, I saw that same car, totaled. The driver must have hit some of that slush, and smashed into the concrete wall, spun, and smashed into it again. There was a cop already there, so he must have been nearby. And finally, on the exit ramp, I saw where a car spun out into the little field.

Now, for those of you in the states that rarely see this stuff...YOU'RE LUCKY!

Anyway...the leaves will be sprouting soon on the tree in my front yard...grass in the lawns is still blah! I did notice at work some of the perennials are starting to show. And, with the snow gone, I see I need to get new marble chips for my rock garden. The ones there now are so yuk! Need to put some new ones on it to brighten it back up. I want to add to it too...it's got one hosta, and a couple of flowering plants, but, I want to add an ornamental grass to it, and Pink gave me a great idea with grape hyachinths. And Dad is going to help me replace my screen door for my patio. Hopefully the dogs do bust it out on me like they did the old one. They are a little more "mellow" than they were as pups...so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My house has an open floor plan, the dining room and living room flow together, and with the way the windows are set....if I have dining room windows open, kitchen windows open, and the big screen door to the patio from the living room open, and with the ceiling fans going......I get a great cross breeze! And Apache loves that patio screen door. The first summer here, when I had just Deifenbacher, I remember having that open and he would sleep in front of that screen door, along with Diefenbacher.

The one thing I'm not looking forward to is cleaning out the little pond in the back corner...uggg!!!! Oh well, it needs to be done. It's a little pond/waterfall thing...the birds LOVE it. So does Princess. Here is a pic of it from last spring...you really can't see the pond part of it because of the tiger lily bush in front of it. Backyard waterfall/pond It's small, and it's upkeep isn't too hard. One of the selling points for me when I looked at this house. And I love the ferns that grow around it, and in the front of my house...OMG!!! They are SOOOOO pretty!!!! I'm going to have to try to remember to get a picture of it this year to share.

Well, I've got things to do...have fun!

Wow! The pond IS beautiful!! I love the ferns too! I can't quite tell what kind of ferns they are. I absolutely love ferns!!
I can picture your dog laying in it on a hot day!!

It was 83 here yesterday but a huge storm system came through bringing a cold front... high today is only going to be 56... quite a change but it's not cold! I love it!!

I love your waterfall. The color of the rocks are beautiful! How serene it must be to lounge around that aresa.
Spring sprung here more than a month ago. it was just perfect. The pink tulip magnolias came first, then the red buds, some tree with tiny purple leaves and then a tree with tiny pale pink leaves. The wisteria has bloomed and all else is budding green. Soon the crepe myrtles will bloom along with the dog woods. grape hyacinths are up and perky!
It hasn't been beautiful here for a month, just on and off. 40's to 80's and 50's to 70's, bouncing back and forth from clear blue skies to dusky rainey weather.Sunday the wind was dangerous and I worried about several trees around my property as well as my oak that is in need of cutting down. Monday followed with the storm pink got and the rains and wind were at it's fearsest! It didn't last long, but went from 80 ish to 40 ish or 50. It was cool this morning and is heavenly outside.
Talulah just brought me her ball. It is time to play!

That waterfall is so pretty.

We had storms roll through here last night with high winds. I had not checked the weather report and left laundry on the line. I spent the morning retrieving it from our back yard and the neighbor's azeleas.
