What exactly is the reason why people join this site and don't want to post thier pictures? Then you write to us and tell us your intention. How can you trust us about having a relationship with you when you don't even want to show yourself, do you really expect us to trust you? I'm sorry but I just don't understand. May I be enlightened on this matter?

See lots of people are scared that someone they know will see the picture and find out. Thats a very common practice. But i agree that this issue is a genuine one and people should at least if not publicly send you a picture in an email or something if they wanna know you.

Every man I've ever "talked" to here who didn't have a picture had one to send via regular email. I think that Veer is right; mostly for privacy purposes. If you like a person's essay and want to know what he/she looks like, I'd say email and say just that; what have you got to lose? I met someone like that and he turned out to be very nice looking :)

Let me add that I won't meet anyone without some kind of visual idea of what he looks like. So, from that standpoint - a pic is essential at some point. Sorry I missed that point, Geena!

People are afraid of rejection!
Some people want sex, but not reality!

Some people don't have scanners to post their pics too, that would be a good enough reason.

In this day and age, scanners are dirt cheap, a decent digital camera is around 50 bucks, a web cam (all the pervs have anyway) is 20 bones or less at Wal-Mart. I think between the fear that they will be rejected on first site, and privacy that covers it well.

My vote goes with the privacy thing...what if one's mother found this site somehow? :)

Hey, canu - I have to webcams...does that make me twice as perverted as those with only one???

Geena - I think you have a good point, darlin!

I think it's mostly a privacy issue for most. Especially the people with a SO or in a respected profession that deals with the general public daily, etc.,.

Myself? I figure, if I run into somebody that has seen my profile and pic, how would they go about bringing it to lite without exposing themselves? So, I don't worry about it.

In my Opinion even If I have a VIP status and my intentions are good, I don't mind them knowing I existed on this site, I don't intend to mislead people here and I can see real people here as well and are happy with the mate they met on this site. There is nothing wrong of being here that I can be ashamed of, so if one cannot defend your reason of existence on this site. . . I know where they belong

Great question... must add kudo.

Maybe I'll just become desensitized over time--probably not--but for now, I'm VERY leery about posting identifiable pics that could end up god knows where. Ex ante, I have no reason to trust anyone with a good picture of mine, whether on my public profile or privately via e-mail. What if I want to run for president?

By the same token, this is exactly the type of environment that can allow someone to earn the trust of others and to develop trust in them as well. It takes time... and I'm not there yet! But if someone uncovers these rather benign escapades on this site while I'm hot on the campaign trail (or better yet, already president), I promise I won't lie about it . Seriously... I hate lying, and I'm terrible at it, and it's complicated anyway, so I just don't bother.

For now, I'll entertain any and all questions about my appearance; similarly, I would never insist on seeing someone else's picture but would hope for an honest description. Naive, maybe...

Because, if you have been through the trauma of an evil ex conspiring in every way possible to destroy you, you would learn to cover your ass, and not give him ammunition to further your demise, when you are trying to dig yourself out of his shit! I'm in a new town, in a new (very public) profession, and I'm not going to let Satan himself (my ex) screw it up for me! I have the power to decide who gets to know who I am.

Lintroller, just promise me that when you run for Presidency, you will not second the motion to shamelessly welcome terrorist to the white house for tea and photos, settle for AMD members for BJs not the interns or better yet e-mail me, this is just my intention not to tarnish what your would be predecessors(that means ex Presidents right?) have already done a first class job.

Don't worry about pictures we always have the scammers to accuse, AMD family will always be behind you. Some people believe it's okay to lie to preserve peace, like they let 911 happen so we have the reason to go to Iraq and get them MFterrorist. "your honor this candidate is leading me , my apologies your honor"

P.S. lying??? get use to it, because there is a probability that you will be in the company of people who constantly lie and break laws because they believe only their cause is just and whatever lies and methods they want to use including distruction, intimidation and murder are justified. If you run for presidency your picture in AMD would be the least of your concern. Last but not the least, if you win, please make another tunnel for Filipinos somewhere in those boarders too, plane tickets are way too high, crossing the boarders by foot are cheaper, after all we are under a regime of justice, peace liberty and equality(is that the way it is in your preamble?). . .you have a vote from me thanks for the kudo. . . Am I in contempt, sorry I'm lost. . .

yourfacefit, you do have the power to choose, we live in a free country but you can only run but you can never hide, If I am in your shoes I would instead face my worst nightmare and get over it once and for all, after all like you said, you have the power who gets to know who you are and I do believe it also works the same way to who gets to mess up your life. Nobody can unless you let them.

chuckle... not so fast--I haven't announced just yet! But thanks in advance for your support, and your concerns (they are many) are noted. I especially appreciate the offer to substitute for activities that are traditionally reserved for interns. Must remember to save your info...

As for liars, I'm decent at smoking them out, and part of my professional training emphasizes wringing the truth out of people (gently but assertively). I just don't like to do it myself, except in trivial matters where I'm just trying to jerk someone's chain and be obnoxiously amusing. I do THAT kind of lying all the time... but only in good fun, and temporarily.

And, since I'm off topic, I'll just make a token addition to my previous comments: those who dig for dirt can expose other people without exposing themselves. Hence, my pictures remain close to my chest.

Let's face it. A lot of people on here are like me. We have very high profile jobs and we can get our asses fired for even thinking about a site like this. I and my lover hooked up with a Methodist minister and his wife on AFF. If everyone was as open minded as the people on AMD it wouldn't be a problem but lets face it, even a few people on here judge people by their profile.

agree with Zippy.....some of us can't affort to post a picture........well facial, at any rate... being in sales.....can you imagine my discomfort having a client ask me how i am doing on amd?? or simply seeing it and saying nothing??

"Nobody can unless you let them" ...I guess you've never played the fool, or been unfairly victimized. Good for you! Maybe your lesson on the world doesn't involve disernment. Unfortunately mine has, so I will continue to cover my ass from those miserable souls who love company!

I believ that some folks are insecure with themselves and either feel they are unattractive and that would dash any hopes of getting responses or they are really, really hot! They would rather not get swamped by an abundance of messages and choose on their own.

I keep my picture up and I was found buy a guy friend of mine who I've known for years online. We used to play online games together and stuff. It was like "woah he found me" but I put my picture up knowing about the security thing. We don't mind if people see what we're up to (the wife & I), because we're totally open about it.

Now if my mom saw it... Yeah, that's freakin' weird. But oh well, that's our lifestyle and that's that.

I understand how poeple could be shunned. Though, my friend who found me does not shun me for it. In fact, he and I have talked off of AMD for awhile about subjects like sex & etc. So maybe that made it easier.

Hope that brings light to those in doubt or just helps people see something about the "results".

OK< I get why some people would not want a photograph... but don't you think that inactive accounts over a month should be removed? What a pain in the ass to read a profile and think you may have a great match only to find out the the person has not logged in for who knows how long... that just drives me up a wall!
