I just saw this. I first came to know her when she did a spot on General Hospital as Helena Cassadine in late 1981. She was a legend.

Yes, she was a legend. OMG!! I can remember her being the original Helena Cassadine on General Hospital!
She was literally "wicked" in that role! I've seen some of her other movies...she was a wonderful actress...always loved her eyes.
R.I.P. Elizabeth...Hollywood and the rest of the world will miss you.

I grew up watching her in movies like National Velvet, Cleopatra and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. What I always admired about women like both her and Katherine Hepburn was that in a day when women were supposed to just sit there and look pretty they said what they thought and did not take any crap off of anyone. She was a talented strong woman.

...it is always sad to hear that one of the greats is gone. Are there any left? I am glad we still have their movies to remember them by. She was a doll and I know she will be greatly missed.

One of the most beautiful women in the world. And a very good actress too!

She was a beautiful woman. But, according to Richard Burton, not the most beautiful woman in the world.
In today's NYT, he was quoted as saying the notion of his wife as “the most beautiful woman in the world is absolute nonsense. She has wonderful eyes,” he added, “but she has a double chin and an overdeveloped chest, and she’s rather short in the leg.”
Now that's one critical dude. Still, he was attracted enough to have married her twice.

I am so glad I grew up when I did. I got to see what true class in the movie industry is all about. R.I.P. Ms. Taylor you will be sorely missed
