In the summer time most of us wear small tops and shorts. We either go barefoot or wear sandals/flip flops. Then fall arrives. Still wearing the small tops, but now, instead of shorts, we pull the jean/slacks out. We trade the sandals/flip flops for sneakers. Then, if we're lucky, we get a good Indian Summer where we are glad we haven't put away the shorts and sandals/flip flops yet.
As we move into late fall, we now bring out the sweaters/sweatshirts and light jackets. As we move closer to the start of winter, some will add thermal underwear, and we pull out the winter coats, hats, and gloves. The earth goes into a slumber. Some trees have shed their leaves for their winter nap, while the evergreens stay green. Winter is a peaceful time, except for the occasional blizzard that visits to liven things up. Some of natures creatures are also napping through the winter months. The bears, chipmunks, and other little creatures are hibernating. You know, I wish I could do that too! By mid winter, we layer ourselves with clothing to keep the bite of winters cold at bay. Then eventually, we can feel the rays of the sun feeling warmer on us..spring is not far away.
We begin to peel away the layers..first the winter coat, hat, and gloves. But keep them handy, because winter can be very stubborn about letting go. Eventually, the time comes where the winter coat, hat, and gloves can be cleaned and put away and the light jacket is brought out again. The rays of the sun are stronger, warming the ground, waking the trees up, along with the animals who are hibernating. The snow is melting away, leaving puddles where ice used to be. As spring progresses, I notice little shoots starting to peek through the old grass..Yay!!! My daffodils are starting to awaken! The trees are budding, they too are starting to wake up. The days are getting longer, more sun light to warm the earth and wake it back up. Now the sweaters/sweatshirts are being put away, and the smaller tops are coming out. Still wearing the sneakers and jeans, and starting to go out only grabbing the light jacket to wear later when the evenings turn crisp.
Eventually, we peel off the jeans, sneakers, and put the jacket away and we are back where we started with the small shirts, shorts, and sandals/flip flops.
Yep folks...spring is really close and I'm ready!!! Bring it on!!!
