I know the holiday is near & I actually have Irish in me as well as Scottish but really don't celebrate St. Patrick's day. It's just another day to me. Do you celebrate it because you are Irish or do you use the holiday as an excuse to get drunk & pinch someone on the ass for not wearing green ?

I don't really celebrate it. I do celebrate December 7, Pearl Harbor Day, by getting bombed and September 1, the day the Germans invaded Poland, by getting blitzed.

My grandfather on my mother's side was born in Belfast and we can trace our family there back to 875 AD. My grandmother's family on my mother's side were from the County Cork although was can only trace them back there for about 400 years. So yes I am half Irish.
My dad was Lakota so no Irish on that side of the family.

I do...but no I don't really celebrate. I have been told that is where I get my stubborness and temper from. Seriously, I don't know what they are talking about...

One quarter. My maternal grandfather came here from Dublin as a baby. But my celebrations are mostly limited to corned beef and cabbage at the local pub for lunch, so no green beer is involved!

I've celebrated St. Paddy's Day when I was working with kids...or in an office environment. I'm not Irish...but I'll still pinch ya if you're not wearing green.

I am Irish on Mom's side. My ancestor that came from Ireland (female) worked the fields. There was a man and I don't know if it was an overseer or another worker, when he daily harassed her she killed him with a scythe.
She was then snuck out of Ireland and eventually married my ancestor. The moral of this story? Don't piss me off....
Occasionally I do something for St. Patrick's day. More so since Wayne died, like drinking green beer and such but the last couple of years, it's been this v v v
I don't think these are gonna make it to March 17th though. I'll need a fill before that and I won't get them done in green again. But I've enjoyed these for the last couple of weeks and gotten lots of compliments on them. It's just fun.

I found out tonight that my youngest son is going to be here from Iraq for St Patrick's day so I am throwing a family party. Knowing our family parties get a little loud at times I just hope the woman next door does not call the cops this time.

The Scots came from Ireland in about 800 A.D. (if memory serves) so there is a good chance that DNA is mingling inside of anyone of Celtic descent regardless of any known connection to the emerald isle.

We have an annual town parade here in my Alaskan town begun by an old town character who sadly passed away last year his body worn out from having lived life and ready for the grave.
He would gather pussy willow for all to carry in this parade from the historic seafaring bar along the cannery and dock road proceeding through all the bars on the downtown mall (3 of them) and on to end up at the American Legion for green beer. Coyote would carry an American plag proudly.
Now for the twist... every year the city declares this parade unlawful and threatens to arrest anyone participating. This always results in a greater turnout along with costumes by young and old in greater numbers.
This year the town will once again march in unlawful assembly to honor Coyote and parade ourselves with the spirit of joy and fun and community this parade was intended to inspire.
Cheers DC
