Local paper sent a reporter to track me down and interview me last week about the 2nd Annual Moustache and B contest I was organising. Had a great article in Thursday's paper leading up to the event on Saturday night.

The ladies put the guys to shame in the turnout for the Pyrite or Fake category. But there was one young lady who made a 4 ft mane out of old washed up fishing gear that was laying around. It was awesome and she won the category along with extra points for keeping with our theme as it was a fundraiser for the local non-profit recycling company.

The public radio station also sent someone to do a sound bite that went out nationally and can be heard at It is hilarious.

One of the events was a duct tape leg wax. One guy raised $107 and the last bidder got to rip the tape off. Sound effects are awesome. Left me thinking... do I really sound like that? when I heard my interview.

Anyway if you want a good laugh go listen. The pics are posted on the Kodiak Beard and Mustache Contest on FB

There is a total of 13,000 on this island and it takes a lot of fundraising to keep some things running here... like recycling .. my pet project.

So when I can organise a fun event like this one I am all over it. It's icy, cold and still dark after 7pm right now and not much going on so any excuse to get out of the house to have a rip roaring good time for a good cause is appreciated.

Can't wait until the sun is setting at 1am again... just a few more months.
