In the early nineties he came back out of retirement and sold out a large Dallas arena in two days. I thought he was okay, never bought any of his albums. There are two songs really like by him. Like Ted Nugent, he is a big deal in Michigan as that is where they are both from.

Several of the 70' and 80's bands toured Europe after they lost their
audiences here.
Glad to hear Bob is on the rebound

Hey now...Ted Nugent rocks!

There have been a few good musicians to come out of Michigan:

Bob Seger
Ted Nugent
Alice Cooper
Kid Rock
Eminem
Glen Frey ( I didn't know this until recently!) Glen Frey
Stevie Wonder
Aretha Franklin
Anthony Kiedis (Lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Jason Newstead-former bassist for Metallica
Iggy Popp
Grand Funk Railroad(just don't know their names.)
Smokey Robinson
Diana Ross
Yeah, ok, I'll name her...Madonna.

Music is a matter of taste....that's a lot of talent I listed there, and just because they are from Michigan doesn't mean I like their music. True, there are some who had songs I liked.

btw..the ones who are a "big deal" to me have the next to their name.

To make myself and others feel like ancient artifacts, Segar is 65 years old.

This is ALF's rendition of: Old Time Rock N Roll

There might be a commercial- you can skip out of it, when a button pops up to skip it!

Oh... I remember hearing the term: Mass destruction on this skit, before it became associated with the Iraqi war! I thought that was kinda interesting!

Seger is one of my FAV'S!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!!

Speaking of 80's rockin tho.....Tesla was in town a few weeks ago and I missed it but went last spring....Cinderella is in town on April 16th!!! They are playing a little tiny ballroom joint right by my house! They do some of the BEST shows there! The stage is small and so is the hall so you ALWAYS have a good spot!

Bob Seger rocks! There is not a single Seger song I don't love and know all the words to! Thrilled that he's coming out on tour and would love to go see him!
When I was married to my first husband he always said if he got the chance to run off with Pat Benatar I would just lose out...........I would just smile and say he better hope like hell Seger never came to town and asked me to run off, cos I wouldn't even come home to pack a bag! lol

Back stage he was very distant and aloof which kind of surprised me. I had anticipated him to have an affinity for the common man. He wasn't a jerk or anything, he just ignored everybody like he didn't hear or see them.

Alot of times that comes from getting "in the zone" before you hit the stage. I had my own littlebackstage routines before performances back in the day.

I understand what you mean...come in at three, do sound check, in/out dinner. prepare for the show. But no, it wasn't that way Bob Segar and his comeback tour.

We were the first shot on the tour, the maiden voyage, We were set up and rehearsing at five in the morning, Segar was in at seven.

Usually an artist/band will loosen up before the final sound check rehearsal before a tour kicks off. Not Bob. We had a bunch of tour rehearsal tapes that we used to get our shit straight and work out any technical kinks in production.

He was aloof and detached. Every tune had been played live by him thousands of times. There was nothing new and his show is not big on special effects, pretty straight away. So we worked it out in a live set and it was all cool.

After that, around 9:30 in the morning, we went backstage for breakfast. He didn't join us, which is usually the custom on a maiden voyage. He didn't say shit, he just ignored us and got into his limo. It was a bring down for myself and others, but no surprise to his road crew.

Let me add a point of perspective when it comes to show biz. I think that this concept was the essence of the connectivity between my late AMD friend, Don (aka Dridge), and myself.

Show biz at the highest level is like the classic scene from the Wizard of Oz: Unless you are behind the curtain, there is no way that you can understand the profession, the lifestyle, or all of the emanating influences on one's life that radiate beyond it.
