Most people who know me, know that I HATE cold weather.
But I think snow is beautiful, especially when it falls as it was earlier today in blankets of huge flakes.

I was looking out my back door and since I have a decent size yard and others adjoin it with no fences, there was all white as far as I could see.

It seemed all so peaceful and beautiful.... so quiet and serene.
As I stood there and watched what Mother Nature was piling on inch by ince of this white blanket I wondered about people who have never seen snow... as much as I hate the cold I can't imagine never seeing the snow fall... or feeling it fall on my face and seeing my grandchildren play in it.

I also began to think of a dear friend of mine and knowing that she was not enjoying such serenity or peacefullness regardless of what the weather was or the scenery around her.

Yesterday, Danya---- Ewe_Wish--- spoke to her son for what could be the last time in quite a while, as he was deployed to Afghanistan.
Truthfully, I have said prayers for many friends and their loved ones deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. But I can't imagne that fear and emptiness of watching your loved one, especially your child go off to either war.

I spoke with Dayna to see how she was doing, and before we hung up she asked me to pray for her son, his wife and their son until he safely returns home.
So I am passing that same request to AMD blog readers...please say prayers or send good wishes for her son, his wife and their baby boy, along with all the others who have family members over in those awful, awful places like Afghanistan and Iraq.

I pray that they, and their families, will all soon know the serenity that I felt this morning watching the snow fall and the calmness that surrounds you at moments like that, instead of worrying and constantly wondering....

One of the great things about you CL you always think of others. I always include my friends in my prayers but I'll send up an extra one just for her

I hope that Dayna's son is safe and sound throughout his tour in Afghanistan and that his family sees his safe return as soon as possible! Give my best of hope and wishes to Dayna!

I admire our men and women willing to answer our nation's call. In the case of the war against the taliban, I am 100 percent behind it. Iraq, big fuck up. None the less, our men and women went forth to do their duty and have done it well. Some suffer from the realities compared to what they anticipated. None the less, they served out nation.

They deserve our gratitude, support and respect, regardless of how we feel about these engagements. They did their duty. Do not forget them when they come home. Do not forget their dedication. Do not forget for the decades beyond.

These conflicts echo of Viet Nam. Americans going into a land with a culture and history that is centuries old and they do not comprehend. Love them, respect them. Realize that they, in many cases were kids, who carried out their duties with valor and good intents in lands where the goal of democracy, as we know it, is likely to be mission impossible.

Trease, my heart breaks for Dayna right now. I know the feeling all too well. Her son and his family, including his mama, cos she will need them much also are in my prayers.
Godspeed all our soldiers home, safe sound and soon.

These are days of uncertainty on all fronts. It's hard to know security anywhere anymore...these are times that are frightening to say the least. To have a child or any relative in places like Afghanistan or Iraq is heart wrenching. Prayers for Dayna and her son and his family are sent from my heart. Tell her I'm sending her big hugs.

Thanks for sharing this with us...kudo for just being you.

I hope all of them return home soon. With two sons in the military it means usually one of them is deployed. I just want all of them out of there, period. I do not want to see us in the middle of a war that goes on forever. I think almost ten years is long enough. Time to come home.
