i brought my bro home today, and it don't look very bright at the moment. besides the pneumonia, and COPD, the biopsy they did showed he has cancer in his right lung. i don't know how bad, he hadn't told me all that the doctors have told him, but he has a consult this friday with a cancer specialist, so i'll go with him to that and find out for myself.
he is weak as hell, but at least he has his balance now pretty much under control, and looks a hell of a lot better than he did last friday. guess next week i'll have something more to tell, but for now, at least he is home.

I am sorry to hear about the cancer. Hopefully it got caught early. His attitude may be decisive but lung cancer and COPD combined make it ominous.

Look at this as a turnaround...now he's heading in the right direction. And most of all...don't borrow trouble. In other words, don't assume the worst before you have all the facts in place. Lung cancer can be beat but it won't be an easy journey. Try to remain positive so that attitude can spill over onto him. Speaking positive does wonders for the spirit. Hugs Mike...good thoughts sent your way...

this is just a quick update, no news as friday is the appointment with the cance specialist. but, it seems he got in the house and suddenly all he wants to do is sleep again. finally got him up and moving to get his hair cut and beard trimmed off. he looks a lot better, but no energy, no enthusiasm.
tomorow i'll drag him in the the oncologist, and see what the prognosis is and what treatment options he has. but if he decides not to do anything, and decides to just roll over and do nothing, then at some point in the near future i'm going to have to put him in a nursing home. period. he wants to smoke more than he wants to live, so as long as that is his choice, no matter what i do, it will do no good. and if he will not accept the facts as they appear night now, and not try to change, i can't fight a loosing battle and come out with anything. so, friday we will see just what he really wants to do. if rolling over and doing nothing is his choice, then i'm not goig to fight it. put him in a nursing facility and let them take care of him.

I am miles away from the outside, but as you lay it out there is no recourse. As a member of the band, Pink Floyd, said, "Sometimes you can lead a horse to water but not make him drink. Other times, you can't even lead the horse to water."
