No one really wants to after eating allllllll that food!!!! But who does the dishes? Do you leave them for the host to do? Do you help with the clean up?
I have always been the one to "initiate" the cleaning up process. I wouldn't want to go off and leave anyone with a mess. As soon as I get done eating, I go out, have my dessert (a smoke...lol) and then go back in and start cleaning up. Of course, I give it time to make sure everyone has eaten all they can stand and won't be going back to get more. We use paper plates as I have said before so the clean up isn't too terrible. There are a few family members who NEVER offer to help.... Most of those are the men though.........what is wrong with them?? .... But if dishes are done while cooking, it makes the clean up much easier!! I always do dishes while I'm cooking! I hate to have a big mess to clean up after I'm full as a tick on a hound....
I hope you all had a great day!!
And pitched in to take care of all the mess!

Okay... who's doing the dishes??? Not me!
The rule in my circle is if you cook...you get a free pass on dish duty. I think practice is fair IMHO.

I always clean my pot, pans, bowls, and dishes as I cook, so there's no mess afterwards.Just a few dishes that you ate off from.

I forgot to add that I do clean as I go...so I don't ever leave a huge mess in the kitchen while I'm cooking. I learned this from my mom.

I cooked all the food and now I have about three loads of pots and pans to do. Everyone scattered after we got back from visiting my mother.

My sister and I always help Mom clean up after everyone has finished eating. Of course, Mom says it's no problem anymore since she has a new dishwasher.

Well i just loaded the dishwasher but I am afraid the rest of them are up to my daughter......I can't really reach the sink well from my wheel chair to do pots and pans but there isnt really that much left.......thank god my china can go into the dishwasher lol The only thing that doesn't go into the dishwasher from my set is my bubble glasses because they have a 8 inch stem on them and it doesn't take much for them to topple over and break........but i dont let my 5 year old granddaughter use one so there is only a couple of them to wash.

when a big group eats at my bro's / s-i-law's place,,, i usually end up carrying the 8' foldable table up from downstairs and all the needed folding chairs. when the meal is over,,, i'll wipe down tables,,, carry the serving dishes into kitchen for preparing leftovers,,, carry unneeded chairs and table back downstairs, BUTTTTTT, i'm NOT washing dishes,,, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
i like their rule,,, if nobody offers,,, the youngest are delegated to washing dishes... being an OLD FART comes with privileges... ... or not

You mean, Thanksgiving is not the day that everyone throws out all their dirty dishes so they can get new ones on Black Friday? No? Just me then?
