As may have been noted, I haven't been in much the last few days. Finally got some of the clutter out of the shop and into the burn pile, had an idea and went to work on that today. I'm trying to get some pics of it as I go along, and will post them to photobucket when I get finished with it.

I'm working on a small jewelry box. The wood is mainly cherry, with a little luan plywood on the bottom and the floor of the top. Right now I have no idea what it will turn out looking like. And won't even hazard a guess. I'm wishing I had the stuff to do some inlay work, but don't. Yet. Looking at a couple of places that have what I need, just haven't pulled out the debit card so far. I keep looking at my bank balance and wonder if I can justify a new router and the inlay stuff. Neither of my old ones will take the guides and bushings required. Sooooo, guess I’m going to own another router pretty soon.

Then I will have to get a dovetail jig, and some new bits, as the ones I have are not real good quality, and a router table so I can do some creative trim, and... the list just keeps on growing. But I do have a decent table saw, a band saw, a planer and a big drill press. I'm running out of room for toys. Then there are all the power tools, routers, drills, sanders, air compressors, circular saws and what ever else I forgot. I didn't get all this over night, some of it i've had for as much as 25 years. And the old stuff just keeps on keeping on. It's the newer junk that quits on me after a year or maybe two if I’m lucky.

Ya'll play nice while i'm busy.

Yeah, right.

One idea would be to keep your eye out for estate or property sales. When my dad went into an assisted living center two to three years ago, all of his woodworking tools were sold off for pennies on the dollar. Normally, CraigsList is a great place for such things, but it is not nearly as much in use in rural areas, especially with older people.

Perhaps there are some groups or organizations that you can network with so as to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. I do understand what you mean about the new equipment not lasting. That applies to hand tools also.

I'm looking forward to the pics of what you're working on.

WoW had a good suggestion with the Estate sales...can find a lot of good stuff in those.

WoW had a great suggestion. I'm always on the lookout for sales when it comes to the tools of my trade. Some of them can be quite pricey...but they're no where near the price range you have to pay for your tools.

I do agree with the peanut gallery. Tool rock!
