thursday the tech was supposed to be out to replace the motor in the big saw. i called the parts department today to see how that was going. still on back order with no delivery date.  .
after i calmed down just a tad, but not much, i called customer service. and i actually got a great CSR. after explaining the problelm to her, I'M GETTING A NEW SAW. it will be here in a little over a week, and once it gets here, i'll have to set it up, and adjust everything again, but at least i'll be able to get out and do something.
i will say that sears products may not be what they once were, but they do have some very very good customer service people. i won't have to go in and pick it up either, it is going to be delivered, and they are taking the old parts away, at no charge. YIIIPPPPPPEEEEEEE.

That is definitely the silver lining in a cloud. Hopefully you wrote down the name of the customer service agent or their employee number (if applicable) and a reference number in case there are any fuck ups down the road.
In days gone by, Sears/Craftsman were the weapon of choice. They have long since been supplanted by the likes of Makita, Husqvarna. and Ryobi. Sadly, not American made. But, again, sadly, your story of quality and customer satisfaction explains why "made in the USA" doesn't mean as much as it used to, I am sad to say...(yes, I intentionally mentioned the word "sad" several times for a reason).
