I think we all have put something down and then it seems to disappear into thin air for what ever reason. Usually when we find what ever it was, it is right where we put it after all. I'm as guilty of it as anyone, and more so than some. But I swear I have a poltergeist out in my shop. Not a day goes by that I put something down and then reach for it seconds or minutes later and it ain't there. The key to my drill press I have two places it might be, but often it isn't in either of them until I search all over the shop, then look again right where I laid it. I usually tell “Harvey” ok, enough of this shit I need that what ever it is.
Last night I set an empty thermos where I would be able to grab it on the way out the door. So, come time for me to call it quits for the night, and guess what is missing? I went back out once last night, and once this morning, no thermos. Finally said oh well, it'll show up and dropped the search. Got a fresh pot of coffee made, filled my other two thermoses, got out to the shop, looked around and still no thermos. So I got busy with a couple of little things I needed to finish up and guess what appeared seemingly out of thin air. It weren't where I thought it should be, and don't remember putting it on my miter saw table. But just about any tool I use does this, my tape measures, wrenches, hammers, or anything I don't have right in my line of sight at all times.
Mind you I’ve never seen Harvey, but he seems to have another annoying habbit. He is as big a coffee drinker as I am at times, and I don't remember emptying my cup, but I find it dry as a bone. And he never makes a fresh pot to boot.
