no, the motor for my big saw isn't in yet, but today i tried my brothers little cheap bench top saw. and it is a piece of trash. the blade is a direct drive, hooked right on the motor, which sometimes ain't all bad, it is fine for rough construction stuff, as long as you don't over load it. but the problems i faced with that thing made me doubly grateful for what i can do on the big one. once i get it aligned again, i can make real good miter joints, do dadoes, finger joints, all with very good results. and with the good blades i now have, every cut is smooth, even with the rip blade.
i won't go into all the probs i had with the bench top, but no matter what i did, i could not get a straight cut. good thing i wasn't doing anything delicate today, and what i did manage to get done was rough. worse than anything i've done in ages. adn i'm not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but i'm pretty good, most of the time anyway. i sure hope that new motor gets here sooner rather than later. i'm going nuts without being able to do seething out there in the shop. i'm begining to think i'm addicted to sawdust too, not just sex.
