Years ago I was checking out a baby names book and to see what each meaning meant for each names in it. I couldn't find my name (Shawn) in the boys section, but did find Shaun, Sean in the boys. I went over to the girl names and what do I see? I saw my name Shawn there.  Oh well, I take it as a compliment when women like that name too that the compnay is willing to place the name in the girls section. My name means "female name of John" it states. I also got to thinking that if I had kids what would I name them. I do believe that kids should have their own names and not named after their parents like with their first name, and I know some will disagree with me on that, and that's fine. Here's what I would name my kids.
GIRLS: Holly, Nena, Shawna (somewhat after me)
Boys: Thor and Stavros

My mom's name is Shawn. Always told me that was the girl way to spell it b/c W has boobs... and Shaun is a boys b/c of how the U hangs down... LoL
My son is named after the candy bar and a comedian... Haha. Mitch Hedburg had a joke about Reese's peanut butter cups being a possesive S, so if a bully on the play gound (named reese) came up and wanted his candy back you'd have to give it to him. What are you gonna say? Your name's not on it!? I looked at my ex and said "Lets name our first born son Reese." I didn't know it at the time, but I was 3 weeks preggers
Worked out though, I have a bunch of girls names picked out but not ONE boy name... and whata ya know? I get a boy!
Girls: Ayrikka Rowze, Raidyn Nicholette, and one that I made up and I refuse to share b/c that's MY name damnit. LoL

I had always planned to name a daughter Nicole (Nikki), but sister-in-law had her daughter first and named her Nicole! I also like the name Cadence for a girl (Cady for short).
Boys: Jaden or Brandon.

I already had mine but I chose Adam, Scott, David & Grant. My ex wouldnt allow me to choose more exotic types.
I loved Rhys, Jacob, Nathaniel, Micah. for boys
Elizabeth or Kathryn for a girl.

well, I've already had the pleasure of naming my two little girls. they're names are Laurana Michelle (after her grandfathers Lawrence and Michael)
and
Harley Rose (Harley after the Jokers Sidekick out of the batman cartoons and comics, Rose is a name my sister picked cuz they share the same birthday)\
I guess if i had to pick names for new kids they would be
Girls:
Celeste, Nira, Fianna, Amara, Artemis, Elana, Inoa
Guys:
Connor, Alistaire, Bryce, Emery, Ramsey, Jace
Now i've seen 2 definitions for my name, Kelley.
1) Warrior
2) Bright Headed
which i find to be funny since i'm naturally dark haired and a passifist

Hehe the meaning of my name (Barbara) is Strange/Forgien, we'll say it's just a little fitting! LOL
My son's full name is Reese William Paul (yea, he's got two middle names...) So his name means
Reese: Enthusiasm
William: Helmet of determination
Paul: Small
William and Paul come from men who are influential on his father's life.
