Just want to say thank you for all of your warm thoughts. I've talked with my friend a couple of times. She's staying strong for the kids right now. It's been a surreal couple of days for everyone.
I know death is part of life...and as we get older, more loved ones leave us. But, it's always hardest when it's under such circumstances such as this. He should be getting ready for when rifle season starts...and he's not. 
They had a nice write up for his obituary. Jim
I told her to tell the family I will try to make the memorial service.

sorry about the lost of your friend. I know how she feels. My husband left for work . A few hours later.Police and a chaplain came by and inform my husband had died. It was a little over a year ago. Thanked God for my friends .

You are a very special person and sometimes it helps to remember the good times with a friend.
My dad's family had a tradition that they did not cry at funerals. They would get together tell stories and celebrate that person's life. Some of the stories would be funny and some sweet and some about what those 12 kids went through growing up in the depression. I have always felt that was the best tribute to a person's life. Remember him for the good friend he was and the times that were special with him.
