this morning at about 5:00 am, i let little Jake out the side/patio door, coz he dont like to get his little feet wet, and if he goes out the doggy door, his feet will get wet, but if he goes out the side door, he can pee off the sidewalk...
i left the door open for him, as i scooted around getting ready for work, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a little dog...came right in behind him,just like he lived here..
.maybe a rat terrier chicwa wa,...(lol sp) which i shooed back out side...so 45 minutes later when i leave for work...he is still here, so i go back inside and get him some food and water,....and he jumped into my truck like he had done it a million times before, but i put him out...
after i get to work, i called the animal warden in my town...our conversation went like this
"hello, i have a stray dog at my house"
"WHERE DO YOU LIVE, WE WILL PICK UP THE ANIMAL"
"slow down cowboy, what will happen to the dog"
WE WILL HOLD IT FOR 7 DAYS HOPING TO FIND IT'S FAMILY"
"and then what happens"
"WE TRY TO ADOPT ALL OF OUR DOGS"
fast forward, they called me back and didnt see the little dog here, and he wasnt here when i got home...so maybe..please he found his home?????
any suggestions.????
and as i told my friend...what if this is the dog meant for me, and i have turned him away>???

Comet, it's been my experance that if he hasn't found a home he will be back if you fed him. If I stumble into you yard will you feed a broken down old biker?

Go to an animal rescue group. If the dog isn't pure bred, SOL. Figure out if the dog is adoptable. Will it make a good pet and worthy of a home? If so put an ad out to appropriate sites like CraigsList. Hugs to you for giving the little guy a shot!

btw...he was wearing a collar..he was dirty and smelly, but seemed very used to a family

I do hope that he has found where he's meant to be though, it's getting cold outside and I can't stand the thought of a cold or hungry animal!

If he is wearing a collar, he has a home.... and hopefully he made it back there and he is happy and warm.... But I wouldn't worry too much if he doesn't come back... just know he's home!! He was just out gallavanting!  Did I spell the right!??!?!

oh, pink...the temp here is still very warm, and i have turned my AC back on....so he is fine in that way....
the animal shelter told me the price to adopt "sheldon" will be 110.00 dollars...but i think with the price of nurteding and shots.,.it will be cheaper than just keeping "shelton" here and taking him to the vet, coz those gonates need to go and he needs a bath and his nails trimmed...plus shots...
can someone do the math, coz im BWI...

The best dog I have ever had is a chihuahua-corgi cross that my son and I found on the street. He was filthy and full of fleas and so tired and hungry.
We cleaned him up, named in PITA (yeah, it stands for Pain in the Ass.) and he became a member of the family.
Four years later, he is laying on my feet looking quite happy.

It sounds like the Situation is covered!!!! (Dog ...Gone!)
A few weeks ago....Blackie was out in his Kennel one Morning.... he started barking like crazy..., When he Barks...a few things are possible...
1. Someones Here...!
2. A Critter is in his Kennel with him...or in the yard
3. A Dog or Cat are Passing through
In this case....it was the Latter..
A Little bitty ...Mini- Pinscher was in the Yard!!!
That was the Cutest little dog I have ever seen!!!
He was dark brown...with a redish hint in color...
He looked like a Chihuahua on Stilks!!! With ears like a Doberman..(that where as long as his legs were tall!)
He would run and bark...then come running to me..then turn and haul ass....!
This went on for several mins....so I just left him alone!!!
After a hour or 2.....
I had to go somewhere....and when I went outside he was still in the yard.
I was gone for several hours..and when I returned he was still here.
He wouldn't let me catch him.....so I just went inside..!
He was gone by Morning!!!
Last week I was out in the yard...picking up limbs from a Storm..and someone pulls up in my driveway....he ask if I had seen that Dog!!!
I told him about seeing it a Few weeks earlier but not since !!!
He said..that he was after a Female in heat....when I saw him!!!! He must be a horny little fugger!!!
He lives over a Mile away!!!
That little shit likes to Travel..evidently!!!
I guess his Moto..must be...."Have Dick Will Travel"

I hadn't even thought about it. Squabbles on here are no big deal in my book, so don't give it a thought. It is just idea and thoughts, by and large, nothing personal one way or the other.
