Most cities have little local papers that you might be able to work out a deal to put an insert [flyer] in them! Call around! This would be targeted around your neighborhood!
Also, do some research on the internet for local small business advertising! That won't cost you anything to search the net!

Excluding "Word of Mouth" ...where do ya Look?
CraigsList, it's free.
I have an Add starting in a Local News Paper... next week...for a couple of weeks...! I really think I'm wasting my Money!! Yeah, I am thinking you are wasting your money also. Even though it is probably rural and fewer people get on the Net, newspapers passe for people to a large extent. You might put out flyers at Home Depot and places like that. We also have a thing here called Value Pack. It has probably 35 small ads and coupons in it. Getting one in there is not too much I think. I have kept a few in case I needed the services and they reside under a magnet on the fridge, especially if there is a discount coupon.

If something is broken in you home...wheres the 1st place you look for someone to get the Job done? Well, my wife usually tracks me down, regardless of where I try to hide...
If you seriously need someone, try the state unemployment office or one of those temp agencies.
Oh, and, yes, you prolly wasted your money...

If you seriously need someone, try the state unemployment office or one of those temp agencies. I think you may have misinterpreted his intent. He isn't trying to find some to be a handyman, but rather trying to figure out how to most economically and efficiently market his services as a handyman. He could have been clearer about that, granted.
But having worked for a state employment commission, I can tell you that they are hands off on contract labor. Stick with the SBA, Alex, and pay attention to them. There is a lot more involved in this regarding insurance, bonding, etc. as I mentioned before.
About 15 years ago a buddy of mine went into business with a friend. They went in nude, with no bonding or insurance. Their biz involved pave stone and PVC fencing installation. Long story, short. They put in a pave stone driveway for a client and the drainage directed the water to the neighbor's home. It washed out the soil and led to the foundation of neighbor's home failing, a 5,000 sq. ft. two story. Bottom line, my buddy and his partner lost everything including their homes in the law suits that followed. They also got cited by the city for not complying with bonding regulations to add insult to injury.

What I do first is go to yoru town or city hall and go to the building department and get a list of all the licensed people or companies that service your area. Then go down the list and get a few quotes. Depending on the job ask for references too.

I always stop and read the bulletins at the grocery stores and when I take my blankets to the laundry mat. Try both of them... and some video stores around here will allow ads in between their entrance doors.
Yes, I know this is late, but I haven't been on here for a few weeks... Good luck my friend....
