after another visit to the vet, i made the very hard decision to do what was best for sweetie pie, instead of what was best for me.
She promised to wait for me at the rainbow bridge, only this time she wont be struggling for breath, and dragging her legs behind her....
my heart is saddened, but my soul is at peace, i did right by her.
thank each one of you for your email and blog comments, as some of you might remember, this is the second time i have had to made this hard choice in the last two years.
but when a friend asked what would i do if my little jake was in the condition sweetie pie was in?? I realized ( we all know how much i love little Jake) i wouldnt let jake suffer for a day as she was suffering.

Any of us who are animal owners/lovers grieve with you , but take heart that you have helped your friend. This is always the hardest call to make. I had to let my best friend go some 20 years ago and I still think of him often and with as much feeling as I ever had when he was with me. Treaure the moments you had and rmember that you cared for her and helped her when she needed you the most.

i had a little trouble sleeping last nite and it was very early morning when i posted this blog, im calmer now, and would like to add a few details.
the vet tech called me and asked if i could come back by because dr jackson wanted to talk to me, of course i agreed.
i was shown to an exam room the moment i walked through the door, and dr jackson came in immediately. he say that he understood from my first visit there with sweetie pie that i wanted to think about things for a few days before making any type of decision, trying to help her, trying to find her a new home, checking with a bull dog rescue group...ect.
he said he just felt as a vet, it was his responsiblity to let me know how serious her condition was, and how truly painful her life was, now thats a hell of a doctor! i will always have the utmost respect for him,
fortunely a great friend of mine took care of the final details for me, he took her soft blanket and fav toy, and buried her under a shade tree on his farm. i plan to buy one of those small concrete stepping stone things....to mark her spot.
and she really will be waiting for me at the rainbow bridge.....

Hugs Comet. I know what you're feeling. You did what you had to for Sweetie Pie. It's hard..I know, been there done that too.  She's not suffering anymore and she has her blankie and toy.

It's best for her! I had to do the same thing to the best pet/friend I ever had- we were buddies and we pretty much understood each other! She was a stay golden retriever so I took her in and for ten years we were almost inseparable!
That was 16 years ago and I still miss her!

Oh my...I didn't realize she was in so much pain. Kudos for making the right decision...and for giving lots of love and peace in her final days. You are in my thoughts Ms. Comet. (((((Hugs)))))

been there as well with 3 dogs and i cried buckets with all 3. the first was the hardest as she had belonged to my grandparents. they got her when I was 5 and 16 years later i was saying goodbye and it was the hardest thing ever
