I do....back in 1981 when we first got cable I can remember the cable guy needing a signed letter from the landlord so he could drill a hole in the house to run the wire.It took 4 days to install...lol
But now we went from 3 channells that were fuzzy with the good old rabbit ears
to crystal clear tv......and no comercials
What happened
Now we pay to watch the damn comercials that we payed for not to watch..
Why is this happening

If you're renting, you still need a landlords permission to "drill a hole". As for all the commercials we "payed not to watch", they are paying the networks for the space to run the commercials. Of course, if you go with DirecTv or DishNetwork, then you will notice there are "infomercial" channels.

If you want commercial free....pop in a dvd and fast forward through the first 5 minutes. Damn! Even a dvd has commercials. It's a commercial takeover!!

I remember that- that was their selling point on cable, no commercials! I remember the advertisements chiding the local TV channels of all the commercials they were running!

Well, that didn't last long and was just a matter of time! And now, it's much worse! Add up the time allotted to commercials and subtract that from a two hour show and see what actual programming view time you get for your money!

Yeah I do too....now there's commercials at the movie theater..before all the previews. So really, we could be at the theater for over 3 hours from the time it takes them to play all the commercials, tell ya not to text or use your cellphone, the previews and then the actual movie.... Wow..that made me pretty sleepy..g'nite folks

My pet peeve is how AMC ran movies commercial free, now they are loaded with commercials. Hell even the Three Stooges shorts (about seventeen minutes long uncut) shown on Saturday mornings are interrupted with them.

Then there are the damned price wars between the cable networks and the providers. I got an email from Verizon this week asking me to write to ESPN because of a rate battle that may result in discontinuing some ESPN offerings. Greed, greed, greed!!!

No kidding!!!!! Nothing like being in the middle of having a good laugh and BAM! Commercials interrupt!

You even get commercials on dvd's....of course, at least with a dvd they can be skipped.

Commercials are one but in addition I hate the pop up banners & the fact that a little bit of bad weather to this day will fuck up viewing & yes that's when I pop in a DVD.

Yanno...I have cable...but I don't watch it very much at all. I prefer to watch movies...or I sometimes watch T.V. shows the next day on my computer. I even download torrents sometimes...because they're commercial-free.

Commercial-free T.V. was great while it lasted. Those definitely were the days.

Growing up, I lived in the country. My dad got so excited over cable...until the cable was strung to the telephone pole in the next door neighbor's yard- and didn't come any further until two years later!
Gosh, 1981 brings back lots of memories. That year in high school I had a really good friend who lived in a trailor park. We used to LIVE at her house because she had cable and we could watch MTV!
Ahhhhh.....those were the days!
