American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi has been fired, according to reports. TMZ.com and several other sources say that DioGuardi, 39, was given the ax Thursday - the same day that Ellen DeGeneres announced she

is leaving the show after just one season. Sources also say singer Jennifer Lopez has been hired as a judge and that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler will likely replace judge Simon Cowell, who left last season to headline an American version of The X-Factor. "We're told the show will be going back to a three-judge format, and, assuming all deals are finalized, the panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler," TMZ reports. DioGuardi, a tough-talking Grammy-nominated songwriter, joined the show in 2008. "It was pretty hellish," she has admitted of her first season on the show. "People were ... it was difficult for them to accept the change. It was difficult for them to understand why somebody who nobody had ever heard of could kind of come out of nowhere and sit next to these iconic figures. You know: Why was I there? What did I do to deserve to be there?"

Are you happy with these changes? Can you live with J Lo and Steven Tyler as part of the three judge panel? What other change(s) would you have made?

I never thought she would last long anyway! Her sense of dry humor, just doesn't appeal to me!

Who, Kara? I didn't watch the show this past season, so I have no idea how she did and what her personality was like.

Because no one really cares for AI anymore except AT&T, Coca-Cola and Ford who stand to pocket a good deal of $ for sponsoring it. Its also rigged, and tends to pick the most gimicky person over some who has real talent and have been in the business for awhile. It plays on the gnat-like attention spans of the average midwestern American looking for the "next biggest thing", in reality, the only person who was a true success out of them all was Kelly Clarkson.

Fox should've killed this show 5 years ago. Its trite, bloated and no matter how they change its format/judges, its just a black hole of suckage taking away time from good shows that have been canceled prematurely.

I watched S8 and I knew it was bullshit when Anoop Desai didn't win over that screeching gay cockatiel or that little dwarf with the guitar.

I agree. I only watched this off and on through a season once or twice over the years, and always lost interest in it through the weeks.

I watch the show every now and again. Simone cracks me up, Helen was noble and I just like Jackson. The chick you're talking about was a good middle man. I think she had some good things to say, but I really liked the original judges. Together as a whole they were a riot to watch. Now I usually work the nights it is on, so this is just based on once in a blue moon. I can't even tell you who won on any season.

I only caught glimpses of the show in the first season and thought Simon made the show. Some call him an asshole, but, he was just being honest.

I agree with Luna, Fox really should have ended this show a long time ago. I haven't kept up with it as I felt the same as Luna, it's rigged, and Kelly is probably the only "original" winner of the show.

With Simon gone, it's not going to have the same appeal. This possibly could be it's last season.

While I agree that Anoop was a truly great singer and performer...so were the other two guys. JMO. I feel all 3 of them represented different types of music...and I personally liked all three of these guys very much.

In fact...I still have Anoop's version of a particular song on my mp3 player. His voice is as smooth as velvet...and it's one of those voices you never get tired of listening to IMO.

As far as AI goes...it's changing and who knows if it's for the better. I didn't even watch it last year.

Well they lost Simon and Ellen. Ellen was the only reason I watched the whole season this year.So no I won't be watching it for the new season. Sorry Lopez does nothing for me as a judge yes hell of an actress but her music isn't my style so why watch?
