You want happiness for most of your life? Go to the SPCA or Pound in your area and adopt a pet. Nobody loves you like your critters love you.. they make you smile, they make you laugh and sometimes they even make you cry.. but they are glad you're home even if you only stepped out the door to get the mail. Studies show that pets prolong your life, can help dispel depression.. So get a pet.. and then learn from that pet the true meaning of love and compassion.. learn how to relax totally.. let it all hang out.
Now if someone would just move these bastards out from under my feet while I'm walking.. and teach cooper to bark more quietly....

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves. And the smile on your face, is the light in the window that let's people know you are home.8iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will. That one is sage, The others.....

... Go to the SPCA or Pound in your area and adopt a pet ...this is a very kind statement and gesture. Only do this if you know you can afford a pet on a daily basis. The idea of a pet is great, whether you adopt or purchase, it doesn't end there. Food is one item they can't do without, but yearly shots, monthly heartguard and flea meds are insurance they won't get heart worms which will kill them. These are not cheap. If you can't afford to take care of a pet, plese don't get one that can be saved by someone who can afford the expenses. To do so is selfish.

Bunny is right, beyond love, pet ownership involves money.

I guess I've been lucky living rurally.. as I can get most of my animal meds and supplies at cost. I also administer myself.. it's not hard.. scruff em.. do the injection under the skin.. etc. Fleas aren't something I've had to deal with until lately. That's the expensive stuff for me.

I think Ms. Skwirl's heart was spot on...and I agree with her about how a pet can really enhance your life.
Of course...Ms. Bunny makes an excellent point by stating that you should only adopt a pet if you can afford one. Great advice indeed.
Thanks for the cookies and the sweet comments. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the quotes.

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will. I'm gonna send this one to my sister. She worries about anything and everything. I keep telling her she needs to learn to relax or she will worry herself sick.
And I totally agree with Skwirl....pets are a joy to have...even when they drive you nuts once in a while. Their loyalty and love is special. Mine drive me crazy, but, they make me smile more than anything else with their antics. And, like Bunny mentioned, make sure you can afford them also. There is more to having a pet than how cute they are. They require attention, exercise, vet visits, and play time.
