Yeah I am just seeing this on the news. I'm not a big baseball fan but I think just about everyone knows who George Steinbrenner is.

It is so ironic that this happens on the day of the All Star game. Steinbrenner cast a giant shadow over the game and was a larger than life figure in many ways. He was called many things, but lovable wasn't among them. He had a horrid temper, was dictatorial, and was called the "Designated Hitler". He had been banned from baseball for awhile, twice.

Sunshine's link paints a rosey picture of him but as it is a statement by his publicist, that is to be expected. I am sure that there will be a lot of press on this.

He was certainly a character. I hated to hear about this all over the news this morning. He was liked by many, but a lot of people didn't like him either. It's baseball's lose.

I heard about this today too. Best wishes to his family. I remember hearing about his temper and how tough he was. Must have worked...I swear the Yankees have made it to the World Series more than any of the others teams.
