Yep, I did it. Got it all done without any mishaps.

What, one may be asking, in the hell am I talking about? I got my lawn mowed WITHOUT any disruptions from my dogs! I foiled their little plans to drive me nutty. Yep, I sure did. I closed ALL windows and latched them, and I made sure ALL doors were latched before I went out to mow the lawn. Yep, I was rather pleased with myself..as I could see Master Buddy laying in front of the patio door watching me happily mowing the lawn without a care in the world because I KNEW he couldn't get out this time.

Yep, was feeling rather proud of myself. Finally get the lawn mowed with no mishaps. Yeah....RIGHT!!!!!! Got ready to head into the front yard and wouldn't ya know it.............................................................................................................................

I FORGOT TO OPEN THE STUPID GATE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Yep, had to turn off the lawn mower, open the gate, and restart the lawn mower. But..hey....I managed to outsmart my dogs this time.....or did I? Ya know....I was so caught up in the idea of making sure Buddy the escape artist didn't get out that maybe that is why I forgot to open the gate. Yeah! That's it! Buddy got me again! It's his fault I forgot to open that gate.

Oh boy! I think I've been out in the sun too long....

Anyway....Pervia...Have a safe and very Happy 4th of July weekend!!!!

LOL...you go girl! earlier today i was watching "ITS ME OR THE DOG" they couldnt figure out how the dog was getting food out of the microwave, so they installed a video camera (duh), anyway, the dog appear to be a jack russell-beagle kind of guy.

the camera showed the dog opening the oven door, from there he could reach and open a cabinet drawer,...so from the oven door to the kitchen drawer, across the counter to the microwave...press the open button and helped him self to what was there...it was amazing....i wonder if it has made it to youtube yet?

and remind me....how did you find yourself with 5 dogs? did you do it on purpose, or did they just find their way to you?

I forgot to open the gate.

That is a bit of a so what to me , just keep them in the house.

I don't have that problem. That is because the lawn mower freaks them out more than anything but a vacuum cleaner. You can't get mine, now or the dogs of the past, in the back yard when the mower, electric trimmer, or chain saw are being used. They are kind of funny in that after I am done, they are both curious and offended, about the changes to their environment.

congratulations on a lawn well mowed. most people in our sector are gardeners.
they drive around in pick up trucks all day with gardening equipment looking
for adventure and other escapades. i must see 5 thousand gardeners just
walking to the store and back everyday. their leaf blowers are legendary. they all have green thumbs, wear green and are into getting the 'green'. ya think they'd
grow corn or something useful. horticulture is more fun to them than agriculture.

.how did you find yourself with 5 dogs?

Well, it started out with one, the German Shepherd. And I would feel bad for him being home alone while I was at work, so I got him a partner. That would be Sasha. The intent when I got Sasha was after her first heat, I'd get her fixed. So, when she went into her first heat..I sent her over to my parents house, where she was to stay until her heat was over. After a week or so...Mom called and said it looked like Sasha was out of heat. And I brought her home. She wasn't out of heat, in fact, she was in the stage of her heat where she was most fertile. And Deifenbacher, (German Shepherd) was on her within 5 minutes of having her home.

Out of the litter of puppies, I got attached to one, Tazz. Intended on keeping just her. Well, after 2 puppies being bought..I guess it freaked Buddy out, and when people would come to look at the others...he would hide behind the couch and bark..and I couldn't get him to come out. Princess...I don't know what happened there...she was always the first to greet people with her little wagging, and holding her paw up to say "hi". A couple of comments I kept hearing was she was "too friendly" (wtf is wrong with that??? ) , or, she was too submissive. Well, the ads I ran were costing about $30 a pop...and it got to where I broke even, and still had Buddy and Princess...and I just said hell with it and kept them. Besides, I knew no one was going to take Buddy, not with him hiding behind the couch barking all the time. Princess...I don't get it.

The bit about the gate was me laughing at myself.

As for my pack here...those clowns chase the lawn mower, and try biting at the wheels on it. That's why they stay in the house. They have no fear of the mower or the weed trimmer. Now the vacuum cleaner....Buddy, Princess, and Tazz head for cover when they see that thing...Sasha...she ignores it..and the German Shepherd...he has always chased the vacuum cleaner.

I have seen all of these jokes about dogs chasing cars, but I have never saw one do it. If it was not loud, some of mine might not have reacted to the mower, but the noise scares them or at least confuses them. They sit at the backdoor and watch, perplexed. When I mow the back yard they act like they are genuinely offended that I am violating their space. The first thing they do is check out the changed environment and mark territory including a poop.

A dog my Dad had when I was a kid was a car chaser. He would hear the car, crouch down in a ditch, and just as the car went by, he spring out of the ditch and chase after it. He even got clipped by a bumper once, and the crazy dog still chased after cars. He was my Dad's bird hunting dog. Thing was, in the end, it wasn't getting hit by a car that killed that dog....some jerk shot him.

And yes, as soon as I'm done mowing the lawn and got the gate closed back up...I let my dogs out and they do like yours....sniff around at the change and mark territory.

So is it true that a dog should have a first heat cycle before spaying???

It's been a few years since I had a dog at home with me Ms. Sugar...and I'm thinking I will keep it that way for a little while longer and live vicariously through you and your dogs.

Yanno...by the fall...you will have this lawn mowing thing figured out. I'm just sayin'...

I hope everyone has a very happy 4th of July!

The big patriotic celebration already happened in Canada this week on the 1st...when they celebrated Canada Day.

The dog antics just kill me...I mean crack me up! and yeah...I always let my little ones have a cycle or 2 before I spy them. It seems to let the puppy in them stay and not turn them into fat, lazy menopausal pups too soon.

^ ^ ^ THAT'S FUNNY COMET...

I don't do the dog thingy but I had a cat once that loved the vacuum cleaner HOSE when the sweeper was running. She'd actually lick at the end of it and it would make her tongue flap wildly trying to suck it into the hose....and sometimes it would and she'd just jerk away from it then try it again. She was absolutely hooked on this and would hardly let me run the sweeper because she wanted to play with it instead.

The cats I have now scatter like dust in the wind when I get the vacuum cleaner out.
