I liked a sidewalk sundae which was chocolate ice cream in the center surrounded by vanilla and coated with chocolate. Our Ice cream truck was Good Humor. Once in a while you got lucky and got a "free stick" which you could redeem for a free ice cream bar next time.

I remember screwballs. I either got those, strawberry shortcake, rocket pops or chipwiches...sweet baby J, I loved some chipwiches and shortcakes. He also sold pickles, chips, gum, pickled sausage and candy, he had everything that MFer,lol
Of course, I also remembered a guy in a blue truck that drove through and sold granita-type icee cups with fruit in it during my childhood...*sigh*
Do ice cream guys even exist anymore? I dont live in complexes any more so its hard to say, but I do miss them.

Do ice cream guys even exist anymore? We have an ice cream truck that makes the rounds during the summer. We also have guys that have a push cart or one that is peddled selling Italian ices and ice cream. Certain shopping centers have snow cone stands in the summer also.

Ahhhh, those were the days, and I still have an icecream truck in my neighbor, do I go running for it....no, but I really enjoy hearing the ice cream truck jingle!
A friend told me a story that when he was a teen, another teen had been hired to drive the ice cream truck in his neighborhood, this teen being a very enterprising young man, sold his bosses ice cream to the kidos and his own stash of weed to the teens! Now thats American! my friend also said the seller was very cautious about not mixing the two businesses, the teens had to wait until the little ones were completely gone before they could start their business.

sold his bosses ice cream to the kidos and his own stash of weed to the teens! I recall seeing a bust of an ice cream truck on Cops or one of those types of reality TV shows.

yes i remember the ice cream trucks in the apartment complex i grew up in. it was a mad dash for all the kids to see who could get there first.
now the next generation is getting started as my nephews ages 3 and 5 visit. they live in a town about 30 miles from where i live that dosnt have an ice cream truck. when they spend the night and hear the bell on the truck they start getting excited and run to either me or my parents for money to get ice cream in which we usually say yes as the looks on thier faces is priceless
