Utah had an execution by firing squad early this morning..
Question: Could you personally pull the trigger??
There are five man squads with live ammo in all but one rifle, so know one really knows which member didn't actually shoot..

If you don't know, the guy was a murderer and chose the firing squad over
lethal injection.

No....I don't think that I could...I couldnt kill a flea...except for the time when I threw a baseball at a mouse in the yard and I actually hit it and killed it.... sorry mouse!

Oh so they DID do it!!! Good!! Sorry to sound cold but it was HIS choice to die that way... I'm sure it was more humane than what his victim suffered!

If this was my job, I could do it.

I would not want to be in the position of having to deliberate the issue.

I honestly don't know.

If it were in self defense or protecting someone that I love, I believe I could in a heart beat.
But probably not as a job, even though it was his punishment for the horrific crimes that he committed taking others lives.
It still goes against my belief that killing another is wrong.

As I said, I just don't know.
But good debate and blog...Green cookie.

No. No I could not do it.. well.. damnit.. yeah I could do it if the person was a pedophile or harmed a child. Ok I am not all perfect love yet..

I'm assuming a blank was used in the one rifle that fired it! There is a difference in the 'kick' of a rifle with a blank in it and a rifle with a bullet in it- also sounds different too!

He lived for almost 25 years after the slaying, even if it was on 'death row'- the victim did not!

As for me- hard to say- guess it depends on the circumstances... like if it was someone I cared about, especially family... I think that would be the deciding factor!

Don..If you read the link to one of the firing squad, (Link to one of the executioners)
it tells of special loading of the rounds..They're loaded so they all sound and feel the same..
I do wonder why they call them sharpshooters though ??
Standing 17 feet from a 6 inch target with a .308, or any rifle,
does not constitute a "sharpshooter"

I don't think I could. I could in self-defense however.

Last time they did this was 14 years ago I believe. I say if he wanted that form of death and it was still offered to oneson death row before the lethal injection bill was passed in Utah, then they should give the idiot his wish that way.
