This weekend Griz's oldest daughter is graduating from high school. Yes, that means there are still a few more still at home. lol

I don't know her well, she is a reserved person and with the little bit of time that I get to spend up here we haven't gotten to spend much of it together.
But I'm proud of her.... and I know that Griz is about to burst his buttons.
He is extremely proud of all his daughters, but right now he is literally beaming when he speaks about her graduation and the goals she has for he future.

A year ago I wrote a blog that he was a new grandpa.... yeap she had a baby. It wasn't planned and no one knew what would happen with school, but this young woman is graduating with honors, (even with taking all college prep courses),and a full scholarship.

She is on her way to becoming a surgeon. Actually a plastic surgeon. And not just any plastic surgeon that does boob jobs and face lifts. Not that there is anything wrong with that...She wants to help the under privledged who need facial reconstruction and can't afford it.

I have now seen what this girl is capable of when she sets her mind to it and I think she will fully succeed with this, in a day when there are so many drugs and gangs, easy outs and reasons to convince herself to wait a few years.
I can't imainge that it's easy going to school and studying every night with a baby.
But I can imagine that she will make it and reach her goal.

You go right ahead and be that Proud Poppa Bear, Honey...You have every right....I'll sew all your buttons back on.

I can't imainge that it's easy going to school and studying every night with a baby.

My best friend did it..and it is hard. But she's never regretted it. She got pregnant, married, became a mother and got divorced all by the time she was 17.

Sounds like Griz's daughter has a good head on her shoulders and sounds like a wonderful young woman. Yep, can see why he would be bursting with pride.

Let me witness to you, to her. I did post this blog and stand by my outlook. That being said, I had an old man (who held five masters degrees) that had no faith in me amounting to shit. He used to say, "Cheap women and cheap thrills, won't pay your bills." Truth be told, I enjoyed cheap women and cheap thrills, I still do.

I scored high enough in high school test scores to get thrown into accelerated classes, running out at the 90 percent level. "God damn it, you don't apply yourself!!" he told me because I was a "C" student. In those advanced classes in a high school of close to 3,900 students in three grades (second largest in California), I would get throttled as they graded on a curve. That just pissed him off more.

In college I graduated with a GPA of 2.7476. That was 24 ten thousands of a grade point short of the minimum for acceptance into graduate school. By then I was in my late twenties and applying myself. The university told me that they would allow me to test out based upon professional experience, but set the bar at a score of 1,100 on the GRE. That is pretty high as I recall in 1979. I scored 1,310. I was granted admission to graduate school and got my Masters with a 3.9 GPA, all "A's", one "B".

The point is, do not give up on yourself. Allow that you may be a late bloomer. But when that flower blooms, you grab your opportunities and be all that you can be. Some times that does not happen in our teens, but comes later. But the system is geared towards the youth that excel. For the late bloomer the bar is raised, but I can tell you, that bar can be scaled. If I can do it, many others can.

BTW, the old man is proud of his kid and with an explanation, apologized for underestimating the potential.
