Big night for the ladies with the election returns tonight posted 6/9/2010 1:03:44 AM | 3 kudos what's this?     report abuse tagged: election, straddle, women, politics   StraddleMyNose Election returns have come in from California, Nevada, and South Carolina tonight. Seems like it's ladies night since a lot of them won against their male counterparts tonight. Republican Sharron Angle will be facing Harry Reid in the fall for the U.S. Senate in Nevada to try to unseat him. Republican Meg Whitman (former CEO of e-bay) will be facing Jerry (moonbeam) Brown for the California governorship in the fall. As some of you remember, Brown was governor of California back in the late 70's through the early 80's. Republican Carly Fiorina (former CEO of HP) will take on current U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer for her senate seat in California. Nikki Haley got the most votes, but failed to to prevent a runoff in the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial race against her male counterpart. 	A lady won her primary in Arkansas also and republicans said "no" to their current governor in Nevada. There is a very strong anti-incumbent tide flowing with the public regardless of party affiliation. Injecting new blood seems to be the order of the day in rejecting business and politics as usual. But these contests are just primaries within the parties. What happens with the economy between now and November will be key. Right now, it is the hard core supporters driving the bus as many people sit the primaries out during mid-term elections.

	Injecting new blood seems to be the order of the day in rejecting business and politics as usual I agree with that statement. I'm one who is sick and tired of "politics as usual" on BOTH sides. I agree with the "anti incumbent" idea, just hopefully the "new blood" candidates really have America's best interest at heart and are not more of the same old same old that is in there now.

	*Puts on the Kettle,Preparing for a tea party* The tea party has done well in the primaries, but there is a problem with that. In order to win in a general election in November, a candidate cannot be too liberal or too conservative as American voters tend to be moderate overall.

	Republican Carly Fiorina (former CEO of HP) What do you think will happen with her, Straddle? The reason I ask is that California is a huge state in the technology industry. Under her tutelage, HP laid off a large number of Americans and shipped their jobs overseas. I have been professionally familiar with her for quite a while. This Wikipedia profile explains quite a bit about her. She has a lot of junk in her trunk and I feel it will come back to bite her, especially in a period where many Americans are either unemployed or under employed. For those like myself who enjoy monitoring the political drama of an election, this should be one interesting race to observe especially when pitted against one of the most liberal senators in the country, Barbara Boxer. Expect one hell of a cat fight in a very grueling campaign with both sides having plenty ammo due to the overflow of bones from skeletons in both of their closets. We do know one thing, the winner will not be a "good ole boy".
