I found this from here for the itching (since you've already got the pain meds):

Get a helping hand from nail polish remover. For a homemade treatment that really works, crush two aspirin tablets (not Tylenol or another pain reliever) into a powder and mix with two tablespoons of acetone-containing nail polish remover. Stir into a solution and apply to the affected area with a clean cotton ball, advises Robert B. King, M.D., professor of neurosurgery at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse College of Medicine. To prevent possible burning, do not apply the solution to any folds in the skin where it would not have a chance to dry. Relief starts within five minutes and may last for several hours.

I've never had shingles, but I have heard how painful they can be. Good luck!

My brother has shingles right now too. He's got them on his chest and is in pain!! I had them once on my leg but it never got to a rash. I was given medication for them directly. Anyone who has ever had chicken pox is at risk of getting shingles and yes, they are quite painful!!
Call you doctor and see if they have any samples of Valtrex, that's what they usually prescribe for shingles.

Maybe a doughnut will help take your mind off the pain

You can try a poultice of cat's claw (herb) and Pau'd'arco (herb) but it's messy and smells bad.

Your family doc should be able to find you some kind of generic that you can take, should try calling them. I had shingles couldn 't move for like 3 days so believe me I remember that pain. Good luck.

Heya folks.....Im trying just about anything I can for this stuff....& I just HAD to pass along my findings, maybe somebody else will find them useful. So far Apple Cider Vinegar seems to be taking the sting off the best I do have both the herbs the lovely Skwirl mentioned, but poultices are something to be used once one is settled down for the night, which Im not....Ill be trying that though....
Anybody wanna....beer?
