Insurance premiums are as high as a cats ass in heat anymore for one person but to insure your family, it's outrageous! And then high deductibles and co-pays on top of that! Taxes are off the charts too!! But are our roads or education any better? Not really! You gotta wonder sometimes, do you work to live or do you live to work? It's insane!

Our insurance just went up $30 a check that is approximately a $780 increase in the premium . In the letter they blamed the government.

Oh yeah. we're gonna have affordable insurance.. whatever.. after G got laid off they offered him a reduced premium of ... are you ready? $545 per MONTH.. for just him. COBRA sucks.
So now, everyone in the household is without insurance. Gawd help us if any of us gets sick again.

I waited until I turned 65 to retire, so I would be covered by Medicare. My wife was already on Medicare, but when we got married, I put her on my insurance. When I retired, I got a letter offering Cobra coverage on myself for around $450 per month, and if I wanted to cover my wife, it would have been around $700 per month!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The government (this administration and previous ones), mortgage companies, CEOs of major corporations, special interest groups and unions, have created a controlled chaos in our economy and then want to raise taxes to pay for THEIR screw ups! I would like to know, how many of the people responsible for our economic mess, are paying out of their own pockets, to help rectify this farce forced upon the citizens of this country??
The administration (and the remnants of previous administrations) have nothing to worry about- their health insurance, salaries and benefits, are pretty much covered for life as far as I know- so, no problem for them and their families!!
And to add insult to injury, we will be forced to pay for insurance we won't even be able to use for what- four years?? That's like buying a new car and paying on it for four years, before you can even drive it and then, won't be worth zip after depreciation sets in! Same for the health care reform, in four years, it'll be so phucked up from corruption and inefficiently controlled as usual- we'll end up getting stuck a bigger bill!
Politicians... book smart..... but no phucking common sense nor street smarts!

I feel your pain, Sunshine! Luckily, I have insurance, but my husband does not. My kids are covered through their father.
My insurance is around $50 a paycheck (biweekly). If I add him to my insurance, I would have to pay more than $400/month....just to cover him Fuckin ridiculous! He cannot afford his insurance through his work, especially since he has child support that comes out of his check. I just keep hoping that by the time we are older and our health deteriorates, we both will have health insurance.

Since before the Bush administration and continuously since, healthcare costs have been rising at a rate of over six percent per year. This, of course, translates into a rise in insurance fees. Many people don't realize how expensive that work benefit is to the employer until after they leave and get the COBRA offer. BTW, don't blame this on the new healthcare reforms, as this sticker shock of COBRA has been a fact of life for years.
