A sad day for Tigers fans

We lost our beloved "Voice" of broadcasting yesterday. Ernie Harwell, who any Tiger fan will know, lost his battle with cancer last night. He had a way of drawing fans into the game...amazing because his broadcasts were on AM radio. I can remember family vacations up north, there was no cable tv at the time and the only way to catch a Tigers game was to listen to it on the radio. I listened to his broadcasts along with my Dad....the two of us were such Tiger fans back then.

R.I.P. Ernie.

This is a loss as he was one of the greats and legends of the game. The announced it on the air while I was watching the Rangers. I have had the pleasure of listening to him call games and you really felt like you were listening to a friend.

I am sorry for your loss. We had an announcer just like that here in Memphis. His name was Jack...he died about 10 yers ago. We are Tigers here in Memphis too. I completely understand.
